Automation Engineer Location: Santa Clara, CA Job Term: Full-Time The Opportunity: Picarro is seeking an Automation Engineer in Operations that will be responsible for improving our automation infrastructure. This person will support the manufacturing and testing of our analytical instrumentation and subsystems. This role is critical in making our products more manufacturable and solving complex problems that show up in our Final Test, Configuration and Cleanroom areas. It will also be the responsibility of the Automation Engineer to understand new products delivered by Engineering, helping bridge the knowledge gap for operations, and therefore ensuring that the product test station and software are ready to be released to the production floor. Responsibilities: * Be the point person and participate in the NPI process for new analyzers, peripherals, and tests. * Support the production floor with technical knowledge and guidance, assist in troubleshooting, and focus on minimizing station down time. * Build, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and software for new manufacturing test stations. * Improve automation on existing test stations to help minimize touch time and increase capacity. * Perform data workup from experiments; present and discuss results with engineering team. * Be able to understand and communicate failures found to engineering staff. * Create test procedures, data analysis reports, system diagrams, and software release packages, which will be used our ECO release process. * Create manufacturing reports from new and existing company databases. * Support, maintain and improve existing internal database. Requirements: * B.S. in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related field / equivalent experience. * 3 or more years' experience writing applications and scripts in Python. * LabVIEW experience preferred. * Experience working in a manufacturing environment. * Experience working with databases and writing queries (mySQL, MongoDB, MS Access). * Full stack development experience preferred (Django web framework, React UI framework). * Experience analyzing and generating reports using different types of data sets. * Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting and failure analysis. * Ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal and meet quarterly objectives * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Extremely organized, quality, and detail oriented, with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment. * Be able to lift 50 pounds. The salary range for this role is $110-130k annually. Our total compensation packages includes base salary, bonus eligibility, and equity.
