Responsibilities

The Family Therapist serves as the primary contact for families on their caseload, providing essential therapeutic support through individual, family, and group therapy sessions. This role also includes facilitating Family Orientations and ensuring effective communication with families throughout their treatment journey.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Family Communication:

    • Proactively communicate with families to provide updates, address concerns, and offer support.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for families, ensuring they feel supported and informed.
  2. Therapeutic Facilitation:

    • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions in alignment with Newport Healthcare's clinical model and the Attachment-Based Family Therapy model.
    • Tailor therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each family and individual.
  3. Family Orientations and Support:

    • Facilitate new Family Orientations to introduce families to the treatment process and resources available.
    • Lead Welcome Presentations and Family Support Groups to foster community and provide ongoing support.
  4. Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Complete all necessary documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, contact notes, and discharge summaries, in a timely manner.
    • Ensure all documentation meets established standards and is accurately entered into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Attend weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision to collaborate with colleagues and enhance treatment strategies.
    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  6. Representation and Advocacy:

    • Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as a representative of Newport Healthcare, advocating for the needs of families and the organization.
    • Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in family therapy.
  7. Time Management:

    • Independently manage your schedule to effectively accomplish goals and tasks, ensuring that all responsibilities are met in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required.
  • Licensed or ability to transfer license in Marriage Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work or Clinical Psychologist in the state in which services are provided
  • Experience with individual, group, or family therapy with adolescents/young adults required.
  • Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders or trauma-informed treatment preferred
  • Willingness to be trained to provide family therapy within the framework of Attachment-Based Family Therapy.

Compensation for this role ranges from $67,200 -$90,000.00 annually, depending on education and experience.
