Overview The RN 1 - Pre/Op Center is responsible for ensuring that all pre-anesthesia requirements are fulfilled for each surgical patient. Acts as an advocate to assist patients/families/caregivers throughout the pre-surgical process. Applies the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's pre-anesthesia clearance/preparedness. Provides education and support to the surgical patient respective to their current health state/plan of care. Qualifications Certifications: , Education: Certificate of Completion, Work Experience: Nursing Responsibilities Resource to ensure that the pre-anesthesia requirements are completedProvides support and direction to surgery schedulers, patient access, surgeon's office, and OR schedulersServes as a liaison with the surgeon's office, PCP, DHC, ASC, ODSC, and ORMaintains knowledge of all tests, medications, and possible contraindications associated with anesthesiaMonitors and updates the surgical clearance workqueCompletion of the Pre-Op checklist >/= 48 hours prior to surgery date (excluding emergent/add-on cases)Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.Works with Pre-op providers in obtaining additional test/forms, pre-autho's, medication teaching, informing pts of lab/test results, assisting with ordering additional tests as deemed by provider for surgical clearance, ordering medications as deemed by providersPerforms ROS, medication reconciliation, reviews health history and surgical history on all patients having surgery with anesthesia sedation for the providers prior to the HP,this is done either on phone or in person Performs the Pre-Day calls to patients having surgery at ODSC( includes surgery report time, review of medications to take in AM following anesthesia policy and answer any questions) Completes the VTE score if needed at Pre-Day call Reinforces diet/bowel preps with patients at Pre-Day call Ensure the patient is ready for surgery by checking HP completed, labs/testing reviewed and VTE score completed within 3 days prior to surgery About Us Find it here. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $29per hour - $49.88per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
