Posting Summary |
The Rutgers School of Criminal Justice (
SCJ) invites applicants for three (3) full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure track). We seek scholars spanning a wide array of academic disciplines that intersect with public safety and the criminal justice system. One of the three positions will be dedicated to a scholar with experience in conducting qualitative research and who is well suited to teach qualitative research methodology courses at the doctoral level. The remaining two positions are open to scholars in any substantive area and to those who use any methodological approach in their work. The ideal candidates will enhance SCJ's existing strengths as a highly productive and multidisciplinary faculty. Successful candidates will demonstrate robust research agendas, effective teaching pedagogies, and meaningful engagements in service activities. Faculty are expected to sustain an active record of scholarly work and publications. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses. The usual course load is four courses per academic year, two each in the fall and spring semesters. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students, assisting the school with administrative and/or committee responsibilities, participating in professional conferences, and contributing to campus-wide committees. Successful candidates will have opportunities to contribute to undergraduate programs in criminal justice and justice studies, as well as graduate programs in criminal justice and a joint program with social work. There are also opportunities to engage in community research partnerships in the city of Newark.
