Job Summary

The Clinical Social Worker III (LCSW/LMFT/LPCC) will be assigned to the Citywide Case Management CASC Team in partnership with the San Francisco Adult Probation Department (SFAPD). The incumbent will service a caseload of 25 individuals identified by SFAPD as needing mental health services. Clients will be re-entering the community after substantial and/or repeated periods of incarceration. The incumbent will provide comprehensive assessment, individual & group psychotherapy, crisis management, and linkages as needed. Clients will receive their mental health services at SFAPD's Community Assessment and Service Center (CASC). Clinician will be assisting clients in connecting to ongoing behavioral health care when needed. In addition, the CSWIII will be a lead clinician completing a special project (i.e. collaborative court liaison, leading trainings, supervising interns etc). The CSW III has advanced clinical knowledge/skills, can independently manage the referrals and waitlist for this position, and is distinguished from the CSW II by the leadership activities listed above (court liaison duties, training of new staff/partners, and spearheading other special projects as needed). The overall goal of CWCM and SFAPD's collaboration is to treat high risk clients, promote safe and sustained re-entry into the community and reduce recidivism into the criminal justice system.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Citywide Case Management Programs is a Division of the UCSF/ZSFG Department of Psychiatry, located at 982 Mission St. Its mission is to provide behavioral health intensive case management services to adults who suffer from serious mental illness, co-occurring substance abuse disorder and chronic medical conditions, experience significant systemic determinant of health, including justice-involvement or other forms of institutionalization, poverty and housing instability.

Required Qualifications

• Current California State License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• A minimum or two years working with severe mental illness, dually diagnosed adults, or justice involved populations
• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others. Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately, and be detailed oriented. Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required timeframes. Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work as a team member in a culturally diverse setting
• Able to lift 50lbs and climb stairs
• Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
• An understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients
• Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds
• Ability to obtain San Francisco County Jail Clearance through the San Francisco Sheriff's Department

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations as gained as part of study or while in school, or internship in a similar institution
* Prior related UC experience
* Ability to provide mental health services in Spanish

License/Certification

* Current California State License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
