Summary The Clinical Laboratory Technologist I (CLT I), in their role as testing personnel, is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and the reporting of both waived and non-waived test results. Under general supervision, each technologist performs only those tests authorized by the laboratory director and appropriate to their education, training, experience, and technical competence. The Clinical Laboratory Technologist II (CLT II), also functioning as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, carries out departmental policies and performs all testing according to standard operating procedures. Working independently and efficiently, they ensure the accuracy of results and maintain thorough records. This role requires a professional level of knowledge to interpret test results that inform provider decisions in diagnosing and treating disease. Does this position require patient care? No Essential Functions In accordance with CLIA guidelines, and following successful completion of orientation, training, and competency assessments, the technologist will: Follow all laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, result reporting, and recordkeeping. Maintain documentation confirming that proficiency testing samples are handled identically to patient samples. Adhere to quality control policies, and document all QC activities, calibrations, and instrument maintenance. Follow established corrective action procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels. Identify any issues that could impact test performance or result accuracy, and either resolve them or escalate to the general supervisor, technical consultant/supervisor, clinical consultant, or laboratory director. Document all corrective actions taken in response to performance deviations, per 42 CFR 493.1425 and 493.1495.
