Overview

The Readiness Support Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides high-level advisory and analytical support for strategic and operational readiness support services. The Readiness Support SME brings deep domain knowledge and experience in readiness support, supporting strategic planning, evaluation, and transformation initiatives aligned with the Department's mission. This position will support specific task orders requiring expert insight and is expected to engage directly with senior government stakeholders and integrated project teams.



Responsibilities

The following duties reflect management's definition of essential functions for this job but do not restrict the tasks that might be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons:

    Provide subject matter expertise in strategic and operational readiness for the military, force training, or other federal workforces' education programs, and the safety of the DoD or civilian workforce.
  • Lead or support the development of policy recommendations, operational strategies, and implementation plans.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform leadership decisions.
  • Support the development of briefings, reports, and written products.
  • Advise Government clients on best practices, program risks, and operational impacts.
  • Participate in working groups and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Provide peer review and quality assurance for technical deliverables.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the following areas:
    • Experience supporting the development and oversight of policies and programs to ensure the readiness of military or civilian federal personnel.
    • Experience using readiness forums to articulate readiness challenges, strategic and operational risks, and proposed mitigation strategies for the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
    • Experience supporting the development and oversight of agency training policies and programs including training systems and technologies.
    • Experience supporting the formulation of education policies, programs, and innovations to include professional military or other federal agency personnel education, advanced distributed learning, and advanced education opportunities for the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
    • Experience supporting the integration of agency safety assessments and reporting, trend analysis, mishap reduction, and mitigation activities for the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
  • Recognized industry, academic, or government leader in their field.
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's or doctoral degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense or federal agencies preferred.

Clearance Requirements: Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred or required based on task order.

Location: Varies by task order. May include on-site at the Pentagon, Wright-Patterson AFB, or other federal sites. Remote work is possible based on client needs and approval.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
