Accounts Payable Supervisor

As an Accounts Payable Supervisor (Payments) at Garney Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing the payment processing functions within the Accounts Payable team. This role will lead a team of payment specialists, ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, and drives the integration of automation solutions to enhance efficiency. A successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep overstanding of construction-related accounting and a commitment to driving excellence within the department.

  • Assist in ongoing training and staff development by providing guidance, support and performance feedback to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.

• Accounts payable activities:
  
  
  
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and organized records of accounts payable transactions, payments and banking.
  • Manage the life cycle of invoice processing to ensure accurate and timely coding and compliance with company and accounting standards
  • Assist team with coverage and tasks as needed and ensure internal controls are properly followed
  • Collaborate with financial services to support the timely completion of month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Continuously assess processes, identify opportunities for improvement, automation and implement best practices
  • Lead integrations of automated solutions with the payment process

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies within invoices, payments or banking reconciliation issues.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal departments for efficiency resolution and continuous improvements.
  • Build and analyze reports on accounts payable activities and financial metrics for data informed decisions
  • Assist in the setup of new accounts, joint venture relationships and companies
  • Escalate and promptly resolve procedural, discrepancies and/or technical problems
  
  
  
  

• High school diploma or equivalent - Required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field - Preferred
• Manager or supervisor experience 1-3 years - Required
• Accounting experience 3-5 years - Required
