Under general supervision, develops clinical expertise and offers educational programs directed at expanding and enhancing nursing staff knowledge and clinical practice. Collaborates with clinical managers, clinical specialists, and clinical leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate programs to meet identified needs of the organization. Serves as organizational resource to ensure evidenced-based practice, and facilitate optimal patient outcomes within GBMC healthcare system.
Education: Master's degree preferred, BSN with a commitment to attain a master's degree in 5 years. Licensures/Certifications: * Must possess current Maryland State license as a Registered Nurse. * Certification as CPR instructor by American Heart Association preferred * Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course on hire and every (2) years * Obtain certification as a professional development specialist within 4 years of hire Experience: At least five (5) years experience in Nursing with two (2) years concurrent experience applying educational concepts, including program planning and evaluation. Skills: * Knowledge of nursing and adult educational theories to assess, plan, implement and evaluate quality educational programs * Analytic skills necessary to develop and evaluate educational programs and assess learning needs of staff. * Substantial interpersonal and verbal communication skills required to provide effective leadership to assigned staff, maintain effective contacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and a variety of Medical Center personnel * Mentoring and development of staff * Demonstrate innovative critical thinking and problem-solving skills * Proficient in computer technology and software applications Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Staff Development Assessment and mentorship * Develops and conducts learning needs assessment of new graduates * Validates identified needs with key stakeholders * Continuously evaluate preceptor performance, grad/preceptor pairing, and overall success of orientation * Provide individualized mentoring and support on the unit throughout the program * Collaborate with stakeholders for ongoing evaluation of nurse graduate placement to ensure appropriateness * Assist new graduates in identifying internal and external programs/resources to enhance their progression throughout the residency experience * Provide career coaching and feedback to assist new graduates in assessment of strengths for career advancement
Preceptor Leadership Academy * Collaborate with leadership to coordinate and communicate preceptor assignments, schedule, timelines, etc. * Create and deliver Preceptor curriculum and ongoing training/resources
Program Development * Applies adult learning and instructional design principles in curriculum development to educate and support nurses caring for patients across the life span * Incorporates concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion into program planning and education * Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure educational programs are aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan * Demonstrates emotional intelligence in decision making * Utilizes innovative technologies to implement interactive learning programs * Uses valid and relevant methods and instruments to measure process and learning outcomes. * Improves learning activities based on evaluation data * Assist with building NRP curriculum and review for improvement opportunities at designated intervals * Uses innovative approaches in performing gap analyses to identify nurse residency program improvement opportunities * Deliver NRP content in mandatory classes * Develop innovative ways to engage the learner including utilization of the Simulation Lab * Collaborate with Simulation Coordinator in development and implementation of simulation scenarios * Assist with core class instruction by specialty when possible
Evidence-Based Practice * Incorporates evidence into curriculum development and ongoing needs of the program * Utilizes conceptual or theoretical frameworks as appropriate * Mentors nursing staff through their evidenced based practice projects

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
