The Role

QuidelOrtho is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to support our Finance team. The Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for assisting in a variety of international and domestic income tax accounting, compliance, and planning duties. This individual will support the public company's global income tax provision, foreign, US, state and local tax compliance processes, as well as support the company's indirect tax compliance processes. The individual will be a key contributor to the daily operations of the Tax team and requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong communication skills are essential. The Senior Tax Analyst will be reporting to the Associate Tax Director, and the intended role is expected to be tax provision & compliance work (60%), indirect compliance work (20%), and transfer pricing work (20%).

This position will in a hybrid schedule (2-days onsite) in San Diego, CA - Summers Ridge.

The Responsibilities

  • Gathering input data and supporting documentation for quarterly and year-end tax
    provision calculations, reviewing provision calculations prepared by provision external service provider, providing support for external audit
  • Maintaining all required quarterly and annual tax related SEC disclosures and SOX controls documentation
  • Reconciling US and Foreign tax accounts on a quarterly basis (direct and indirect tax balances)
  • Compiling the supporting documentation for external compliance service providers for filing of Federal and state income tax returns, including state apportionment details
  • Monitoring intercompany pricing in accordance with global transfer pricing policy
  • Review sales & use tax, personal property tax, and business license filings prepared by external compliance service provider
  • Coordinate audits by taxing authorities and respond to taxing authority inquiries on
    occasion related to both direct and indirect taxes
  • Respond to state & local tax notices timely to reduce incurred penalties
  • Track intercompany pricing / transfer pricing procurement requests from business
    partners and improve response times
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years related tax and/or accounting experience
  • Strong General Ledger Accounting skills
  • Microsoft Excel expertise with advanced knowledge of pivots and formulas
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and driven to problem solve
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred:

  • Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision
  • Actively pursuing or already obtained Certified Public Accountant license

The Work Environment

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,00 and is bonus eligible.
