INNOVATE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES! At Milwaukee Tool we firmly believe that our People and our Culture are the secrets to our success - so we give you unlimited access to everything you need to create disruptive new technologies and solutions on our Manufacturing Quality Engineering Team.

Our Manufacturing Quality Engineering Team is responsible for bringing life to Made in USA Hand Tools, with every manufacturing phase of our Made in USA Hand Tool products happening in-house under the watch of this team. We continue to invest in quality engineering resources to support our growing Made in USA product lines. We are pushing the limits in technology driven quality engineering, best in class testing, process improvement and inspection excellence, integrated quality systems, real-time data monitoring and predictive analytics.

Behind our doors you'll be empowered every day to own it, drive it, and do what it takes to design and develop the biggest breakthroughs in the industry.

Meanwhile, you'll have the support and resources of the fastest-growing brand in the construction industry to make it happen.

Year after year, our team continues to make significant breakthroughs in the industry. We're just getting started. To learn more about our story click HERE.

Develop and maintain relationships with engineering, suppliers, metrology lab, and customers. Review engineering drawings for conformance to ASME standards (Y14.5, Y14.41, Y14.8, and others). Aid in datum feature selection and use of geometric tolerances. Able to consider and provide options for gauging, vision, CMM, or other inspections. Support metrology needs with gaging and fixture designs - 3D CAD models and 2D drawings (Solid Works or NX). Track Metrology and Inspection Projects and Report on Status. Foster a positive, collaborative environment throughout the organization as a support function of the organization.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

Quality and Inspection Planning

  • Supports Engineering New Product Development in Metrology through sample measurements and feedback, early on involvement in drawing and GD&T reviews, and early supplier measurement capability evaluations.
  • Develops inspection-gaging strategies to meet business needs for the business.
  • Able to articulate differences between datum reference frame and alignment options, best-fit to CAD, and measurement without datum reference frame to create a consensus on the best approach to meet design objectives

Part Measurement and Part Qualification:

  • Interprets drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 to identify product inspection requirements.
  • Ability to break down engineering specifications - size, position, perpendicularity, profile of a surface - to understand the sub-characteristics contributing to a reported value.
  • Aids in developing new inspection techniques as required.
  • Metrology software experience (Micro-Vu Inspec, PolyWorks, Calypso, others on occasion)
  • Proposes and develops gaging options for in-process/in-plant inspections
  • Develops inspection fixtures to ensure minimum measurement error during inspection.

Design Assistance and Training

  • Participates in design reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure that conformance to specifications, provides input based on instrument capabilities and limitations. Leads technical dimensional measurement planning as needed.
  • Work from written or verbal instructions, detailed engineering drawings, and 3D models to establish inspection criteria and measurement implementation.
  • Maintains adequate training in metrology disciplines to ensure capability to support team and train others as needed.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • College or Technical degree in a field related to Engineering or Science (Preferred)
  • 3 years CAD 3D modeling and 2D detail drawing experience.
  • 3 years minimum of experience teaching GD&T or drawing checker
  • Proficient in set-up and operation of inspection equipment (Preferred)
  • ASME Y14.5 GDTP certification (Preferred)
  • Proficient in mathematical applications- Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills SolidWorks 2023 or NX 2024
  • Ability to investigate and learn new technologies within metrology
  • Organized and able to balance multiple projects (typically 3-5) simultaneously
  • Strong diagnostic and investigative skills - applies the scientific method to isolate and resolve challenges within metrology.
