Overview Join us as a System Analyst where you'll work with a team of talented system analysts where you will maintain and support an advanced communications infrastructure in New York Orange and Sullivan County using a full range of wired and wireless technologies.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- In this role, you will help maintain, install, and monitor various communication rooms, LAN rooms, and provide timely responses and troubleshoot alerts generated by various system performance and security tools. You will also be evaluating, planning, and managing LAN Infrastructure minor projects including preparing scopes of work, drawings and layouts, schedules, and estimates, conducting stakeholder field walks, procurement of material and contractor resources and contractor oversight.
- Troubleshooting TCP/IP networking connection to systems, experience working on 66 and 110 blocks cross-connect and carrier circuit type SIP, T1, POTS etc.
- Monitor communications and network and provide support as necessary to various incident response teams.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of LAN and Telecommunications equipment problems using industry standard tools and checklists as guides.
- Install and maintain new and existing cable systems, plant and documentation.
- Specifying, procuring, configuring and installing infrastructure equipment including Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), rack-mount automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units (PDUs) and environmental monitoring appliances and sensors.
- Troubleshooting, electronic documenting, physical labeling, and tagging of Category 5e, fiber, and wireless access point plants, performing root cause analysis, making recommendations for solving LAN infrastructure problems and providing support for planned and unplanned power and mechanical events.
- Must be available 24/7, on call, and/or participate in off-hour emergency response activities as required,
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Construction, Business or related field and a minimum of (2) years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree in Information Technology or Engineering or Construction or Business or related field and a minimum of (4) years of relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of (6) years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, or applicable degree and Experience with Telecommunication systems and LAN room equipment.
Relevant Work Experience
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines simultaneously, required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, required.
- Excellent oral and written skills, required.
- Previous LAN Administration, LAN Infrastructure, Cisco CUCM Infrastructure and Unity Platform, preferred.
- Contract administration and contractor oversight, preferred.
- A good understanding of industry standard policy, processes and procedures covering incident, problem and change management is preferred.
- Knowledge of monitoring and security tools is preferred.
- A good understanding of industry standard policy, processes and procedures covering incident, problem and change management is preferred.
- Technical certifications (e.g. FCC, CCNA, RCDD, etc.), preferred.
- Experience with Telecommunication systems and LAN room equipment, preferred.

- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Use hand-eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- Use personal vehicle(s), and be able to transport, store, and secure company laptops and other job-related equipment in vehicle. Acknowledge that reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be able to participate in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
