General Responsibilities |
Manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations and logistics for the Center for Civic and Community Engagement and serves as the main line of contact for student, faculty, staff, and community partners. Oversees the implementation of the policies and procedures of the service learning program as established by the Director of the Center for Civic and Community Engagement. The Program Coordinator also supports the development and implementation of service learning course integrations. Helps to promote, coordinate and evaluate service learning programs and events. The Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of publication design, word processing, spreadsheets, and database projects for the Center. Manages the creation of and supports the development of student handbooks, directories and forms for all courses. Collaborates on all program, student, class and trip information for the Center. The individual must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. A high level of dependability, professionalism and confidentiality are required. The Program Coordinator must maintain a consistently positive attitude and demeanor toward all areas of work, colleagues, and constituents. The employee must be able to function independently, set priorities, and self-supervise on a daily basis. |
Work Performed |
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Center for Civic and Community Engagement.
- Manages, organizes and disseminates all information related to the Center's curricular and co-curricular programs.
- Manages the development, coordination and implementation of plans for academic integrations, unique service learning projects and programs.
- Manages the development, planning and implementation of Alternative Break Trips and co-curricular integrations.
- Coordinates the development, set-up, coordination and breakdown of office events alongside Center staff.
- Coordinates the production and creation of office publications and their production and distribution.
- Supports the development and execution of the Service Placement Fair.
- Acts as liaison between the Center and internal and external college constituencies.
- Work with campus partners to support the analysis of service learning impact as it relates to completion, retention and academic success.
- Utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, web and presentation graphics software, and continues to obtain updates and training in support of office needs.
- Supports the development of office processes that include program forms, student documents, payments, purchases, reimbursements, mail reception, filing, etc.
- Maintains inventory of office materials and orders supplies when necessary.
- Manages, maintains and updates the Center website as needed.
- Manages numerous web-based forms in support of various service learning programs.
- Checks and follows-up on all messages on the central email account and main office voice mail box daily.
- Maintains continual and effective communications with the Director and Center staff at all times.
- Works on federal, state, and local grant applications and reports as assigned by the Director.
- Supports the development and implementation of service learning integrations and supports faculty as needed.
- Assists Center staff with the monitoring of budgets and cost centers.
- Acts as an HCC approved driver, staff advisor and student supervisor on shared group service experiences as needed throughout each semester.
- Utilizes Colleague to compile and analyze class enrollment and student information in support of service learning course integrations.
- Supports the faculty service learning integration proposal process and faculty professional development efforts around service learning theory.
- Interacts with students and faculty to answer questions and provide information regarding Service Learning.
- Occasional local travel may be necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in relevant field and two years of program administration and/or operations management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience planning and executing logistically complex events and programs.
- Ability to prioritize and effectively handle a multitude of concurrent projects and tasks.
- Ability to process, organize, monitor, maintain and analyze large quantities of information and data.
- Experience developing and maintaining advanced Microsoft spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent judgement and decision-making capacity and the ability to carry forward initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work cordially and effectively with diverse segments of internal and external college constituencies.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite software applications including MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook and OneNote.
- Exceptional organizational and managerial skills with a focus on efficiency and process improvement.
- Exceptional document editing skills.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with a wide range of constituencies.
- Service/volunteer experience.
- Professional experience working in Higher Education.
- Experience in publication or graphic design.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software.

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
- Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
- Valid driver's license and compliance with HCC's policy on Use of College Vehicles-70.02.01
