We are looking for a Coatings Pretreatment Operator to join our100% EMPLOYEE-OWNEDteam.

First Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical- capable of lifting 50 lbs. safely, with assistance if necessary. Capable of standing and bending over for long periods of time while performing job functions, with reasonable accommodations if necessary.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining the Pretreatment processes supporting the Paint and E-Coat lines to ensure optimum performance and safe operations. Responsible for timely completion of job functions. Responsible for keeping accurate titration and PH records. Responsible for wearing appropriate PPE at all times. Authority to perform Lock-out/Tag-out procedures if required.


  • Complete Start-up / Shut Down Pre-treatment operations.
  • Keep accurate titration records and monitor system performance.
  • Monitor and maintain pre-treatment tank levels throughout the day and ensure that no overflow.
  • Monitor tank cleanliness throughout the day and report any concerns to management.
  • Maintain nozzles to assure even coatings throughout the line.
  • Make appropriate additions into the tank as instructed by management.
  • Mix and maintain stripping solution for checking Zinc (ZN) weights.
  • Ensure metal is clean and apply the Zn Phosphate pretreatment.
  • Observe and ensure adequate water breaks.
  • Operate Deionized (DI) water Halo spray.
  • Support E-Coat operations when directed including coating and curing.
  • Perform quality checks after cure.
  • Check solution levels and temperatures in the paint and E-coat systems; make adjustments as necessary.
  • Conduct parameter checks on E-coat bath and preventative maintenance on E-coat equipment and tanks as scheduled.
  • Mix and handle chemicals used in the coating process safely.
  • Work safely and ensure hazardous conditions are eliminated. Follow company safety procedures.
  • Communicate accurately and effectively to other individuals in the department as well as other departments.
  • Understand and adhere to the quality system
  • Arrive to work in a punctual manner and be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Maintain neat and clean work area.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Ability to visually inspect.
  • Possess basic math and English reading skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization abilities to ensure all tasks get completed.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and titrations.
  • Basic understanding of Wastewater and EPA requirements.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED. At least one year of experience working on a paint, coatings or e-coat line (preferred).
