This Position reports to:

Indoor Apparatus Product Marketing Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical support to both our customers (OEMs, Panel Builders, Distributors) and your peers in the Product Marketing team. Each day, you operate as the day-to-day technical support to OEM and Panel Builder partners and support the development and maintenance of configurators for Medium Voltage Switchgear components. You will also showcase your Electrification Industry expertise by driving sales efficiency by providing appropriate product knowledge information and training regarding our Distribution Solutions product offerings. This role will specifically support in preparation of technical documentation, support tools and coordination of R&D activities for the MV Switch Gear components targeting customers in OEMs, Distributors, and Panel Builders. The Technical Product Specialist has the unique ability to work closely with sales and marketing, and offering the support they need in order to best serve our customers.

The ideal candidate would be located in Cary, NC or Lake Mary, FL and work a hybrid-remote schedule out of our offices in those locations - but the role is also open to remote candidates located in the US. This role will require approximately 30 - 50% travel.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Understanding and following global or assigned area standards, market and customer requirements, and their impact on the current offer portfolio.

  • Conducting valuation of market size and trends, as well as competitor analyses including identification of offering gaps and evaluating ABB's market standing.

  • Ensuring whether technical solutions can be used across the Product Group's offer portfolio to the maximum possible extent.

  • Managing the technical specification of the assigned products and supporting the Product Manager in developing the business case on offer developments, maintenance, and cost reduction.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in MV electrical distribution and industry business

  • MV switchgear and R&D/product management experience required

  • Product specific knowledge of ADVANCE Switchgear or equivalent required

  • Previous experience with Medium Voltage Special application products (Generator breakers, Capacitor switches, arc eliminating devices) and/or Relays is a plus

  • Previous work with Solidworks, CATIA, Autocad and other R&D software tools

  • Ability to travel an estimated 30-50%

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $98,700 and $183,300 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
