SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to monitor, coordinate and maintain materials inventories and support production quality, planning and shipping coordination within the Jacksonville Asphalt facility. Maintain controls over consumable material inventories and a direct link to TPM activities.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:




  • Follow all safety and environmental compliance rules and regulation. Comply with Owens Corning safety programs and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Works collaboratively with diverse teams (including plant staff, corporate planning and transportation carriers, and operations teams) to ensure plant has appropriate levels of all materials to run to schedule. Provide input and assist in maintaining accurate min/max inventory levels for all materials.
  • Maintains material inventory integrity through accurate and timely record keeping, daily physical inventory counts, cycle counts and reconciliations. Ensure record retention procedures are implemented and in compliance.
    Utilize both paper and electronic systems (SAP & Excel) to manage inventory stocks.
  • Attends Daily Management System (DMS) each day and updates plant personnel on any inventory issues which could affect schedule. Checks schedule for changes and escalates issues as needed.
  • Manage physical inventory on site including FIFO inventory procedures, incoming rail shipments, and optimizing raw material storage in warehouse and shipping yard.
  • Manage, order and schedule incoming raw materials, and outbound shipments through truck and rail transportation systems.
  • Ensures continuous improvement programs are utilized to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Identifies waste streams and lead projects to increase process efficiency. Develop and engage production team to improve current processes and create productivity opportunities. Works with other Site teams to implement improvements.
  • Works collaboratively with Operations Leader and Plant Leader to optimize and improve processes.
  • Serve as a liaison to Controller around inventory control status and issues affecting the plant and plant costs.

  • Experience in working with railroad industry and other transportation outlets

  • Competes on analytics to drive results
  • Implementing process controls and process improvements
  • Must be able to learn the responsibilities of this position. Ability to learn to drive a forklift.
  • Participate in TPM efforts



COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

The employee must be able to:




  • Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
  • Experience with SAP or comparable ERP system
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:




  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with logistics, customer service or purchasing
  • Associates Degree or applicable experience



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:




  • Lift and push and pull 40lbs repetitively
  • Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for 8 hours
  • Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Bending and twisting
  • Able to climb on and off of forklift
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control
  • Able to work with railroad and other transportation outlets
