Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the manufacturing definition (system) and ME related activities within the program through its lifecycle. The ME leads the multi-functional Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team that is deployed into the program as the primary representative for (ME) at all program / technical reviews & externally (with customer & suppliers). Will ensure the manufacturing system meets stakeholder requirements including; technical compliance, adherence to Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) standards and compliance business case (including quality, delivery and cost).


The ME supports operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem solving skills. The ME is accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and production.

Job Responsibilities

  • Exemplify a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems. Delivery of a manufacturing system that fulfils all stakeholder requirements including; Safety, Logistics, Quality, Producbility & Business case
  • Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production
  • Resolve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
  • Responsible for the implementation of tooling and or production planning, from original concept through to production. Design these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such
  • Accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation
  • Delivers measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational & Program goals
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



  • Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, Minimum 5 years' experience as an ME
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, etc.)
  • 10+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience in lieu of degree
  • Problem Solving Experience using techniques such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Experience of managing New Product / Process introduction (industrialisation) & existing production process improvements
  • Ability to manage a cross functional team of engineering, quality, production, and tool room in projects
  • Ability to influence people, build trust and establish effective working relationships within a global organisation
  • Minimum of 2-3 year of CAD experience, preferably NX
  • Knowledge and experience of Basic GD&T and using basic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometres, and height gages
  • Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices
  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
  • Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
  • Must be a US Person (Citizen or Green Card holder) or have the ability to obtain the necessary Government licensing to work with controlled technology and products
