Department: Industrial, Processing and Agribusiness (IPA)

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Structural Engineering

POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Structural Engineer III plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Structural Engineer III is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed - both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also help support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Serve as structural discipline lead for complete projects from start to finish.
  • Participate in business development - proposals, meetings with clients, interviews.
  • Effectively execute projects. Help develop estimates for assigned scope of work, and ensure we stay within scope and adhere to the overall project budget (KFI labor, expenses, and subs).
  • Coordinate work with both internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and work direction as needed.
  • Oversee the production of construction documents including drawings and specifications, ensuring the application of sound structural engineering principles.
  • Provide work direction to other team members (including subcontractors), and technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Design strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Possess an understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering construction practices.
  • Strong structural design experience across a variety of industries (agribusiness and/or central utility) and materials (concrete and steel, masonry helpful).
  • Experience using structural analysis software (RISA or similar).
  • Demonstrated consistency in successful combination of design and/or project management.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application, including MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and meeting management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Represent the company in a professional matter.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification. Registration in multiple states, or ability to become registered in multiple states, is desirable.
  • Experience designing heavy industrial structures and facilities common to the agribusiness or central utility industries.

Working Conditions

  • Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites.
  • Travel: May include some domestic travel 1 to 2 days in duration - typically not exceeding 10% to 15% throughout the year.

Salary Range: $103,000 - $128,700 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
