Amsoil is currently seeking an Application Engineer.
The Application Engineer will professionally represent AMSOIL Industrial in target customer segments by providing technical support and application expertise to grow new business and maintain existing customer base. This role will work directly with front line sales personnel as well as our Marketing and Technology teams to deliver value to our customers. This individual communicates effectively with field level employees, operations management, low to high level industry engineers as well as mid to high level executives, internally and externally. In addition, this role supports technical projects requiring attention to detail and the ability to articulate technical information through reports and/or presentations.
Examples of Work Performed / Essential Functions:
- Technical Sales & Support
- Support domestic sales effort by partnering with sales on business development opportunities.
- Work in conjunction with sales team in the development of value focused offers to win new AMSOIL business.
- Field questions that the sales team receives from customers and support them on sales calls, representing AMSOIL from a technical perspective, educating both the sales team and customers on product specifications and benefits.
- Provide post-sale support for the customer, installation support or troubleshooting issues that may develop working with either or all, customer(s), OEM(s), industrial distributors, and AMSOIL technical support staff.
- Assist in analyzing and interpreting customer oil sample reports.
- Develop and present technical training to both internal and external groups.
- Be on the Forefront of New Products and Application Needs
- Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with key personnel at industrial companies to better identify current and future needs.
- Provides technical product, service, or equipment information by answering questions and requests.
- Help develop new products and processes to expand the business opportunities of AMSOIL Industrial.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Field Trial Tracking and Project Management:
- Provide framework and trial tracking for AMSOIL Industrial product trials; Prepare engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing product and application information and engineering and application trends.
- Ensure product trials are managed smoothly and samples are collected on time.
- Partner with Product Development and Market Management in new product development and processes to expand the business opportunities of AMSOIL Industrials.
- Gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
- Service and Travel:
- Typical travel for this position may be 50% or higher. Travel may, occasionally, include weekends and holidays for international travel and special events.
- Industry Associations and Industry Events:
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies to support sales growth Globally.

- Supervisor / Manager.
- Customers and potential customers.
- All internal functions such as Customer Service, Technology, Marketing, Sales.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant area of study required.
- Five to ten years of relevant experience required with a technical background or understanding in metal removal, machinery lubrication, manufacturing operations or related products. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial lubricants, i.e., machinery lubricants, metal working fluids, industrial greases.
Certificates/Licenses Required:
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and hold a valid passport and country visas on a per-need basis.
- Certifications in one or all, OMA I, OMA II, and CLS preferred. Expected to pursue if not currently certified/licensed.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities Required:
- Superior mechanical knowledge for industrial applications.
- Experience in a decision making role or strong decision making skills.
- Familiarity with failure analysis and problem solving metholodgy.
- Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time, nationally and internationally.
- Highly motivated, self-directed and able to successfully work independently without supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and professionally with others in person and over the telephone.
- Knowledge of grammar and spelling to generate written communication and to interact with the public.
- Strong public relations and customer service skills to deal with the public, resolve problems, and effectively manage difficult situations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other staff, and members of the public.
- Skill and ability to operate and troubleshoot office machines, including computerized equipment.
- Strong skills in operating a computer with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software as necessary.
- Efficiently manage time and expenses related to business travel.
