The Impact You'll Make

At Lam, as a Metrology Engineering Technician, you play a crucial role in supporting metrology activities for Lam's product development, process development, and advanced research. You'll be trained in SEM Defect Review and CD-SEM metrology tool operation, maintenance, and minor recipe adjustments. In addition, standard training for supporting semi-conductor laboratory instruments will also be provided; such as optical microscopes, wafer sorters and baggers.

In this role, your attention to detail and problem-solving will directly enhance Lam's Metrology Group.

What You'll Do

Metrology Technicians assist the Metrology group in operating assigned measurement tools to provide critical data for process teams to assess the results of experiments.

  • Operate semiconductor metrology tools including but not limited to SEM Review, CD-SEM with minimal direct supervision
  • Manages queue of samples for assigned metrology tools balancing effective use of tool time with customer priorities
  • Move wafer boxes in and out of lab following establish cleanroom protocols
  • Maintain assigned metrology tools through: SPC, beam alignments, calibration checks, and troubleshooting of minor tool issues
  • Properly handle sensitive customer samples and protect intellectual property through established protocols.
  • Work directly with Metrology Applications engineers with recipe troubleshooting when data does not meet expectations.
  • Process metrology results by preparing reports of results and updating process teams
  • Assist in technical improvement opportunities of the Metrology lab tools and experimental workflow.
  • Interface with vendor Field Service Engineers to provide support and troubleshooting ensuring timely solutions and minimal downtime
Who We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in a Physical science field, orAssociates degree in technical field with 5+ years of semiconductor experience or7+ years of related experience in semiconductor industry
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment (bunny suit, safety glasses, mask, gloves)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English to communicate effectively with a large internal customer base.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive changing priorities
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams)
  • Ability to lift 25-pound sample boxes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior operational experience of automated SEM tool or similar systems
  • Strong team player that can foster a professional atmosphere and cordial working relationships
  • Driven, highly organized, with attention to detail
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced customer service-oriented workflow
  • Flexibility to provide weekend coverage or work a compressed schedule

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
