Job Summary
The Financial Aid Specialist coordinates financial aid administration for all Elmhurst University students including new and returning student awarding processes, preparation of materials for financial aid offer letters, and overseeing all student loan processes. The position interacts with students to adjust student loans as requested and facilitates notifications of required information.
Salary Range $21.63 - 23.08. This is the expected hourly range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.
Essential Functions

  • Is responsible for financial aid awarding processes for all student types.
  • Reviews daily ISIRs and reviews for packaging and repackaging of federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
  • Provides regular reporting related to primary responsibilities and assists in maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees all Federal Direct Loan processes including PLUS applications, loan cancellations and adjustments, and regular reconciliation.
  • Manages outgoing loan-related communications including notifications for missing information and exit counseling.
  • Oversees all private loan processes including certifications, cancellations, adjustments as well as maintain the department's ElmSelect profile.
  • Monitors and resolves issues related to aggregate loan limits, overawards, and grade level changes.
  • Counsels and communicates with students as it relates to their loans and participates in on-campus events that include student interaction.
  • Assists in coordinating audits, compliance reviews, and survey data collection.
  • Attends trainings and conferences in key areas and maintains an understanding of trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial aid administration.
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in federal, state, institutional financial aid awarding processes.
  • Ellucian Colleague experience.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
