Position Summary: The Corporate Tax Accountant is responsible for overseeing tax compliance and tax provision work for Triumph Financial, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiaries. Providing research and support to all corporate tax questions related to federal, State, sales tax, tax exempt loans & securities. The Corporate Tax Accountant will coordinate discussions between the development teams and our tax consultants to gather R&D Credit information. Provide details on owned airplane activity from properly coding invoices and tracking flight activity which is used to determine airplane disallowances and imputed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Managing the tax provision for Triumph Financial, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiaries.

  • Follow the SOX controls we have in place around tax and making sure the tax reconciliation and checklists are performed on a quarterly basis.

  • Preparing monthly tax accruals for all entities as final NIBT becomes available.

  • Coordinating with tax provision and tax compliance consultants (EY) to update the estimated effective tax rate, rolling forward the deferred tax assets and liabilities and submitting quarterly estimated tax payments.

  • Providing the information needed to file the federal and State returns.

  • Facilitating the intercompany settlement of tax payments within the consolidated group, per the Firm's tax sharing agreement with the Bank.

  • Preparing updates to the tax sharing agreement and submitting to the board for approval.

  • Coordinating with tax professionals on any audit requests.

  • Responding to various tax notices, as received.

  • Updating apportionment file developed specifically for Triumph.

  • Restricted stock awards - recording monthly entries associated with options exercised. This would include recording the windfall / shortfall as shares vest and rolling forward the DTA associated with restricted stock.

  • Assist in tax related due diligence on target banks / holding companies.

  • Setting up deferred tax items related to stock acquisitions.

  • Coordinate with and provide information to Grant Thornton, the firm we use to maintain our tax books for fixed assets and tax depreciation methods.

  • Assist in getting estimated and extension payments made to the various taxing authorities either online or through our accounts payable.

  • Working with Customer Billing and Accounts Payable on sales tax issues.

  • Providing research for tax exempt question on loans and or securities.

  • Assist with month, quarter, and year-end closing processes and financial reporting (full cycle accounting).

  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Experience & Education

The successful candidate will possess advanced accounting skills and tax knowledge for financial industry. Requires a high level attention to detail, strong Financial Systems, analytical and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in accounting is required.

  • 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, in a fast-paced organization with M&A activity,

  • Certified Public Accountant, preferred

  • Experience and strong understanding of internal controls

Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong research and analytical skills related to accounting concepts and legal contracts.

  • Proven interpersonal and relational skills; ability to work well in a small, collaborative team, as well as communicating and interacting with a larger group, including executive management.

  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems.

  • Intermediate skills in Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint.

  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Must be able to receive and follow instructions given by management, develop solutions to unique problems, and handle all data with security, caution, and care.
