Position Summary:

This exciting opportunity is a hybrid role based out of our Downers Grove, IL Corporate Offices. Enjoy flexibility as you work a few days per week from the Downers Grove offices and a couple days per week from your home office.

The Manager, Segment Technical Accounting (within Corporate Controllership) reports to the Senior Manager, Segment Technical Accounting, and works closely with the other Segment Technical Accounting Managers. This cross-functional position plays a key role in supporting Operating Company management with complex accounting matters and SOX compliance, business-critical projects, and the development and enhancement of policies and procedures. This role provides key development opportunities, company background and knowledge, and leadership exposure that has resulted in several recent promotions from within this group to other areas of the company. The position works closely with the Segment CFOs, the Corporate Controllership group (i.e., Corporate Accounting, Financial Systems, Financial Planning & Analysis, SEC Financial Reporting), Tax, Treasury, Legal, Corporate Development, and other Corporate functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and liaise with Operating Company, Segment, and Corporate management to provide support and guidance on a variety of topics including complex accounting issues, acquisitions and dispositions, accounting for digital costs and revenue streams, and best practices
  • Support deal structuring, provide accounting guidance, and prepare valuations for new acquisitions by working closely with the deal team and Operating Company leadership
  • Review, analysis, and reporting of SEC financial statements and significant accounting matters
  • Lead ad hoc initiatives and projects, including developing materials and presenting to Corporate and Operating Company leadership
  • Support Operating Companies with the close process, including accounting and reporting questions
  • Perform Financial Statement fluctuation analysis, reserve roll-forward analysis, and other analysis and internal reports
  • Leverage financial systems to support management decisions and deliver value to the Corporation
  • Assist with the communication and implementation of key SOX initiatives and remediation efforts at Operating Companies
  • Support implementation of new accounting guidance, policies, etc.
  • Prepare deliverables for the Audit Committee
  • Opportunities to strengthen and grow Operating Company partnership and controllership activities

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • 6+ years of relevant, progressive experience, preferably in public accounting and/or private industry at a public company
  • Undergraduate accounting degree required
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, and SOX compliance
  • Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment with frequent ad hoc requests and changing priorities
  • Ability to research and provide guidance on complex accounting transactions
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism required as position requires a significant amount of interaction with Corporate, Segment, and Operating Company leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage effective relationships across the organization to achieve goals and objectives
  • Team-oriented individual willing to continue their development by supporting other areas of the group
  • Curious mindset and desire to work directly with Operating Company management to pragmatically resolve issues and questions
  • Energetic, self-starter with a "hands on" approach and continuous improvement mentality

Desirable Skills and Experiences:

  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Audit and M&A experience preferred
  • Cost accounting knowledge and experience with the manufacturing industry is a plus

Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00annually

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
