Cremer Volunteer Pastilles - Production Manager - Lake Charles, LA

As part of Site Leadership Team, this position is a high-visibility role responsible for safety, quality, cost, delivery, production, and housekeeping in assigned departments within and across the Lake Charles facility. This position leads the operations team in flaking, pastillation, repacking, drumming, production, and packaging. They will set direction to achieve strategic site objectives.

The preferred candidate will drive a culture of compliance, ownership, and continuous improvement by blending an understanding of World Class Manufacturing with a working knowledge of equipment, processes, and systems while engaging, coaching, and inspiring leadership in the site's activities that align with strategic vision per recurring strategic planning. Supports direct-facing customer communications.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS


Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • SB.S degree (Process Engineering/Electrical Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Kind & Length of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within fluid handling and/or chemical processing, or related manufacturing facility preferred
  • Position requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings;
  • Position requires deep understanding of process control and process improvement via structured problem-solving;

PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS

  • Accountable for the performance and results of a large team spanning up to 4 shifts. Current shifts are rotating 8 hour schedule working 24/5 with personnel working 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00PM to 11:00PM and 11:00pm-7:00AM. Weekend work is expected to occur occasionally. Must be flexible to support all hours of operations and available to make decisions and direct resources. Future production needs may necessitate a 24/7 operation.
  • Exercises full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions.
  • Provides direct input and leads the attainment of production schedules to meet customer demands and business goals.
  • Train and mentor production staff to improve skills, safety and quality awareness and overall team effectiveness.
  • Reviews and approves standard operating procedures, change controls and deviations.
  • Responsible for the positive team culture, employee engagement and the retention and development of employees.
  • Promotes a Safety Culture and Quality Focus through active leadership in near-miss reporting, Safety and Quality walks.
  • Troubleshoot and lead real-time structured problem solving to resolve production-related issues, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Will promote a learning environment with focus on development and sustaining a continuous improvement culture using tools from World Class Manufacturing to deliver stated goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including EHS&S, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure smooth production workflows.
  • This person will be expected to have business acumen to give input to and support the development of annual operating plans, head count, expenses, and capitol investment activities to support and set business objectives with senior management.
  • Adapts production departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior management.
  • Align assigned team with organizational objectives and communicate progress toward key performance indicator goal attainment through daily huddles, one-on-ones, and other meetings, as necessary.
  • Calculate and present cost-savings opportunities across the organization and to customers, as directed for proposed cost-reduction initiatives to respective management teams.
  • Encourage innovation during brainstorming sessions to challenge current paradigms.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of 24/7 remote support;
  • Complete all required training assignments;
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, safety, and security requirements covered under local, state, and federal regulations; and any industry certifications that Cremer may adhere to.
