Job Summary

The Director of Community Lawyering and Simulations is responsible for designing, teaching, and overseeing practice-based legal education focused on guardianship and family law matters, community engagement, and professional skills development. Leads the law school's Community Lawyering Clinic, collaborate with community partners to address the legal needs of underserved populations, and develop simulation-based courses that prepare students for real-world legal practice. In addition to teaching and program development. Supervises project-based adjunct faculty engaged in the delivery of communitycentered or simulation-based courses. Onboards, trains, coordinates curriculum alignment, and ensuring consistency in pedagogy, learning outcomes, and assessment methods. Serves as the primary point of contact for adjunct instructors, provide ongoing support and mentorship, and assist with evaluating adjunct performance in accordance with law school policies.

  • Directs and supervises law students enrolled in the Community Lawyering Clinic, focusing on client-centered advocacy and community-based legal problem-solving. Identify, build, and maintain partnerships with local organizations, legal service providers, and advocacy groups to serve community needs. Oversees case intake, supervision, and ethical compliance in accordance with state and university standards. Engages in community outreach and law reform efforts in coordination with clinic goals.
  • Develops and teaches clinical, simulation-based courses across a range of legal practice areas. Ensures that clinical simulation courses are aligned with best practices in experiential learning and ABA standards. Innovates curricular offerings to reflect evolving demands of the legal profession and student interests.
  • Mentors and supervise students in both live-client and simulated learning environments. Maintain program records, evaluate student performance, and coordinate with academic affairs and compliance offices as needed. Collaborates with other clinical, skill, and tenured faculty to integrate experiential learning across the curriculum.
  • Contributes to the broader academic and professional conversation on community lawyering, legal education, and practice readiness.
  • Oversees the Guardianship Annual (Court Mandated) Project: Oversees the annual preparation, review, and submission of required guardianship reports for individuals under court-ordered guardianship. This position involves direct legal services, supervision of support staff or law students, coordination with court personnel, and ensuring full compliance with statutory and judicial reporting requirements. The attorney plays a critical role in safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals through timely, accurate, and ethically sound reporting.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight (8) years of related work experience or Master's degree in a related field and six (6) years of related work experience.

Departmental Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Licensed in the State of Florida
  • 5 years of professional legal representation, including community lawyering, public interest, or comparable advocacy experience.
Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or supervising law students, particularly in experiential or clinical education.
  • Member in good standing with Florida bar admission
  • Prior experience directing or co-directing a legal clinic or skills program.
  • Background in simulation pedagogy or experiential curriculum development.
