The Project Engineer I plays a critical role in driving projects from inception to completion, overseeing complex designs to ensure successful outcomes. Key responsibilities include identifying and addressing potential risks early in the project life-cycle, creating solutions to mitigate those risks, and ensuring the project stays on track. The role also involves fostering strong relationships with clients by delivering high-quality results and providing ongoing support. In addition to leading all aspects of the project within their specific discipline, the Project Engineer I is responsible for setting priorities, delegating tasks, and guiding team members toward project success. This position demands strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively manage both people and projects. Responsibilities:

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: A Project Engineer is required to have a B.S. degree from a four-year ABET-accredited engineering program. Candidates should have graduated from an engineering program and be eligible to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or have achieved their Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification prior to graduation. Additionally, 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility in engineering roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is expected. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, or the candidate should be eligible to become a licensed PE or registered in at least one governing authority. Candidates must also have a solid understanding of electrical terminology and components, electrical symbols, and the National Electric Code (NEC). Proficiency in drafting software is preferred to support design and project execution. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment in managing complex projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying engineering principles to deliver practical solutions. Location:This position can be based out of our Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux Center, IA, Omaha, NE offices or Open to Remote. Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 30% of your time. Compensation: The pay range for this position is $76,800 to $96,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
