Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in obtaining patient histories, performs metabolic profiles, and performs such other tasks as assigned. Obtains vital signs, height, and weight for clients on the inpatient unit as directed by the LPN/RN. Provides frequent rounding on clients and address/report client needs to LPN/RN as appropriate. Performs UDS/HCG testing adhering to CLIA standards. Maintains accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies. Under direct orders given by the medical provider, supervises self-administered client medication, or perform medication administration depending on the specific clinical program's protocols. Schedules and monitors medication clinic appointments with medical providers in conjunction with the site business staff. Authorizes drug refills as ordered by the medical provider and telephones/faxes prescriptions to the pharmacy. Schedules outside medical appointments for clients as ordered by the medical provider. Responsible for obtaining necessary medical information as requested by the medical provider. Responsible for maintaining current and accurate documentation. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory and licensure standards

EDUCATION

  • High School or GED

EXPERIENCE

  • One year working as a Medical Assistant in a licensed healthcare facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Normal tasks may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.

Within the bounds of their respective job descriptions, all staff are expected to exercise principle-centered leadership, focused on customer service responsiveness, with a continuous quality improvement orientation. Additionally, all staff are expected to develop a working knowledge of and follow all policies and procedures related to safety management and other Joint Commission standards.
