The Maintenance Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability, facility safety, and operational efficiency. This role provides direct supervision to skilled technical staff and is responsible for developing team capabilities, managing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The manager partners cross-functionally to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, setting goals and driving performance aligned with operational priorities.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment, including CNC machinery and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Analyze downtime, repair trends, and PM data to anticipate future needs and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements.
  • Coordinate installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
  • Monitor and prioritize maintenance work orders to ensure timely resolution and minimal production disruption.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and contracts related to facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements; proactively identify and address safety risks.
  • Maintain HVAC, utility systems, and facility infrastructure to support operational needs.
  • Champion safety initiatives, including Near Miss reporting and corrective actions.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement efforts through kaizen and lean activities.
  • Communicate regularly with operations leadership regarding maintenance status, costs, and timelines.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, cost reduction projects and continuous improvement efforts through kaizen and lean activities.
  • Submit and manage capital requests related to infrastructure and asset improvement projects.
  • Develop career paths and training plans to elevate team capabilities and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong analytical skills; ability to apply statistical and diagnostic tools
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making in complex, variable environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance/project management software
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma methodologies
  • Results-oriented with strong time and project management capabilities

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or related field (or equivalent experience with Associate's degree)
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment, including diagnostics and controls
  • Proven project management experience in equipment installation and commissioning

Preferred:

  • CNC equipment training and supervisory experience
  • 10+ years in maintenance leadership
  • Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, walk, and use hands
  • Occasionally required to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, and moderate noise levels
