Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Research and Development (R&D) to lead our innovation and product development efforts for the Americas region. This role is instrumental in driving technology leadership and market growth through the design, development, and validation of advanced data center cooling systems, including air- and liquid-based cooling technologies.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen in HVAC and thermal management with proven leadership in multidisciplinary R&D environments. This position requires a forward-thinking leader who can collaborate globally, deliver commercially successful solutions, and build high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D Strategy: Define and execute the regional R&D roadmap aligned with global objectives and market trends in data center cooling.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and scientists across mechanical, thermal, controls, and electrical disciplines.
  • Innovation & Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end development of cooling solutions, from concept through prototyping, testing, and product launch.
  • Customer & Market Alignment: Engage with key customers, marketing, and offer management to understand regional needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Global Collaboration: Interface with international R&D counterparts to align on technology platforms, share best practices, and ensure consistency across regions.
  • Lab Oversight: Ensure R&D labs meet testing standards for air and liquid cooling systems, including airflow, power, control system, and thermal performance validation.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure designs meet applicable safety, environmental, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, UL, CE).
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for personnel, projects, equipment, and facilities within the Americas R&D portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in R&D or engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in HVAC systems, heat exchangers, refrigeration cycles, or liquid cooling technologies.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure or mission-critical systems preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of product development lifecycle, design for manufacturing, and reliability engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse technical teams and manage complex projects across regions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
