RALCO Electric, Inc., a well established electrical contracting company with over 39 years of experience, is seeking a skilled Office manager with previous experience in Construction Accounting. We are in the process of migrating to Sage Intacct. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling full-cycle accounting tasks including billing, AR, collections, job costing, compliance filings and financial reporting with accuracy and efficiency, briefly using Sage 300 while training as we transition to Sage Intacct to support project and operational needs. This role will work closely with internal teams, management, and external partners, and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Position Overview We are seeking a detailed oriented and experienced Accounting Office manager to maintain financial record for our electrical contracting business. The position will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate finical reporting, handling job cost accounting, and maintain compliance with industry- specific financial regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of construction and electrical contracting financial practices, as well as proficiency in ERP accounting. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Prepare and maintain financial records, ledgers, and statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist on month-end and year end closings, reconciliations and financial analysis.
2. Job Cost Accounting
- Ensure costs related to electrical projects, including materials, labor, and subcontractors are being properly posted to appropriate accounts.
- Maintain job cost reports and ensure accurate allocation of expenses.
- Collaborate with project managers in the monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee A?P Coordinator for vendor invoices, payments, and subcontractor billings.
- Prepare and send customer invoices: monitor receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
4. Compliance with State/Federal regulations
- Prepare and file sales tax reports, and other required documentation.
5. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Assist management in financial planning, forecasting , and budgeting
- Provide cost-saving recommendations and analyze profit margins.
- Support strategic decision-making with financial insights.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience, preferably in construction or electrical contracting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage 300construction, Sage Intacct or similar ERP software).
- Knowledge of construction job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Skills & Competencies
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with COO, project mangers and administrative staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Knowledge of lien waivers, progress billings (AIA forms), and constructive retainage is a plus.
- Notary is preferred, but not required.
