DIRECTOR OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Supply Development Specialist will lead the identification, onboarding, and development of suppliers to support production and program needs. This role ensures suppliers' readiness and compliance with aerospace standards. The Supply Development Specialist will also manage cross-functional projects with new vendors to ensure successful integration into production and long-term performance alignment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers based on capability, capacity, and compliance with aerospace standards .
  • Lead supplier audits, assessments, and qualification processes (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.).
  • Manage onboarding activities including documentation, certification review, and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Oversee supplier development projects from initiation to production readiness.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and procurement teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project milestones, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Establish and track KPIs for supplier performance during ramp-up and early production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related issues.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between new suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in sourcing strategy development and new product introduction (NPI) planning.
  • Provide technical and operational support to suppliers during development phases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2-5 years of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, or supply chain roles
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP).
  • Proven experience managing supplier projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Experience with ERP and supplier management systems.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft products.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, more with assistance.
  • Work environment consists of various office and manufacturing settings with may have exposure to noise, varying temperatures, smells, and chemicals.
  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
