Job Description

Position Overview:

In this position, as the Global Product Safety Manager, you will lead the product safety function for Rockwell Automation. The scope of this role is global and enterprise-wide across all products and solutions in Rockwell Automation and 3rd party suppliers. You will deliver business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent application of the Rockwell Automation product safety standards. You will facilitate and motivate, work across departments and businesses to ensure collaboration, communication, visibility, and successful delivery of the industry leading product safety program at Rockwell Automation.

Your Responsibilities:

As a Global Product Safety Manager responsible for Rockwell Automation-wide product safety, you will:

  • Manage a team of product safety experts and distributed product safety coordinators throughout Rockwell Automation businesses.
  • Provide the vision, strategy, and leadership on product safety and incorporating industry best practices to improve the internal processes and functions.
  • Own the maintenance and improvement of the company product safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive awareness and education throughout the company.
  • Ensure product safety is considered within new product introductions and in assessing post-release product safety incidents.
  • Stay current in industry product safety standards and leveraging that knowledge in your work.
  • Interact with Rockwell Automation business groups such as engineering, product management, legal, technical support, product quality, customer quality, and technical communications as you execute on your product safety work.
  • Develop effective and efficient metrics to measure, monitor, and report on effectiveness of the product safety controls and compliance with product safety policies and processes.
  • Act upon and communicate product safety issues with the appropriate level of urgency.
  • Maintain and improve product safety awareness training and migrate to new tools as appropriate.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Rockwell Automation policies and procedures and provide appropriate guidance when requested.
  • Support team on day-to-day product safety work when needed, such as post-release risk assessments and product safety disclosures.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 15% of time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Typically requires 8+ years of direct management experience in product safety or product quality.
  • 3+ years of engineering/quality management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline.
  • Direct experience working with products that serve industrial markets.
  • Working knowledge of key product safety standards, such as Safe Electrical Work Practices in the Workplace.
  • Practical experience with product development of application software and/or embedded systems, ideally in industrial automation.
  • Experience providing transformation leadership and change management.
