Job Summary:

Responsible for leading and overseeing the safety function across all business regions, ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs, policies, and culture. The position provides strategic direction and operational leadership to a team of Regional Safety Managers and collaborates closely with senior leadership to align safety initiatives with organizational goals. This is a corporate, executive-level role.

Main Responsibilities:

* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
* Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
* Lead the corporate safety strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives across all regions
* Supervise and support Regional Safety Managers, fostering consistency and excellence in safety practices
* Promote and guide professional and career development of safety team staff
* Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs
* Analyze safety performance metrics and incident trends to drive continuous improvement
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards
* Manage the workers' compensation loss control program including claims, benefits, compensation and modified work programs; recommend strategy and negotiate settlement of claims
* Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external safety consultants
* Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, communication, and accountability
* Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for serious events, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
* Prepare and present safety performance reports to the President and executive leadership team

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, occupational health & safety, business administration or related field of study (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
* Master's degree and/or relevant professional certifications preferred
* OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, and other relevant certifications required
* Valid driver's license with clean driving history required

Skills:

* Proven leadership experience working in a multi-regional or national safety role required
* Experience working in construction, industrial manufacturing, or related environment preferred
* Advanced knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and related rules and regulations
* Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
* Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to interpret data and translate metrics into actionable results
* Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.) and other relevant software systems
* Experience with safety management systems and data analytics tools
* Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to implementation

Physical Requirements:

* Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
* Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
* Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
* Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) to detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information
* Regularly required to perform tasks requiring visual acuity to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess
* Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl
* Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
* Regularly required to work from a seated or standing position for long periods at a desk using a computer
* Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including mobile construction equipment, dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
* Travel to offices and worksites in CO, NE, SD, and WY, including stays overnight away from home required
