Summary of Position

We are seeking aPrincipal Platform Engineer - Data & AI Platformto lead the design, development, and operationalization of scalable data infrastructure and DevSecOps practices. This role focuses on Snowflake architecture, dbt transformation workflows, and Terraform-based infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in Snowflake data warehouse management, dbt development, and modern web application deployment for data products.

The Principal Platform Engineer will define long-term platform strategies, build and deploy robust CI/CD pipelines, and ensure operational excellence across data platforms. This role requires deep technical expertise in Snowflake, dbt, Terraform, and cloud-native technologies, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization, cost management, and security compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term DevSecOps vision for Snowflake, dbt, and Terraform infrastructure.

  • Architect scalable Snowflake environments, dbt transformation workflows, and reusable Terraform modules.

  • Build and deploy CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake, dbt Cloud, and web applications (React, Vue, Node.js).

  • Provide technical oversight for Snowflake account structures, dbt dependencies, and Terraform state management.

  • Document architecture patterns, model standards, and infrastructure specifications.

  • Deliver internal training and workshops on Snowflake, dbt, Terraform, and web deployment best practices.

  • Analyze and optimize performance across Snowflake queries, dbt models, and web applications.

  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, observability, and compliance with security standards.

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for data platform incident escalation.

  • Collaborate with Security and Cloud Ops on governance, compliance, and security scanning.

  • Mentor team members on advanced technical implementations and best practices.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced certifications preferred; equivalent work experience is acceptable.

  • 10+ years of experience with DevOps architecture using Snowflake, dbt, Terraform, and modern web application and/or data application deployment.

  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, dbt Cloud, and Terraform Cloud.

  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and provisioning.

  • Experience with managing containerization deployments on Azure and/or AWS.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools for performance and user experience tracking like New Relic, Azure Monitor, and/or QuickSight.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).

  • Azure and Snowflake certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, SnowPro Core/Advanced) are a plus.

The base salary range for this position is$175,000-$195,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here:Teladoc Health Benefits 2025.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
