The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading, planning and executing the work of receiving and the preparation and processing of orders for shipment to vendors and customers. This position trains shipping and receiving employees in company policies and procedures, safety guidelines and general shipping operations. Completes required documentation and schedules transportation for International and Domestic shipments. Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments with Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and Production. Controls shipping terms in SAP Master Data. Ensures production demands are consistently met. Manages safety initiatives, departmental development, and continuous improvement efforts in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization. The role will promote a collaborative environment to ensure effective communication and interaction across departments to achieve business results.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Oversees Team Leads and associate to ensure daily production demands are consistently met and removes capacity constraints throughout the production, shipping and receiving process.


  • Manages employee performance to establish expectations, monitor, and measure contributions and provide employee feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.


  • Maintains staff capacity by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.


  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.


  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.


  • Performs work that is compliant with cGMP, ISO, QMS, OSHA and other pertinent regulations and directives.


  • Maintains quality standards by ensuring that all team members follow all work instructions.


  • Provides information to the Director of Operations by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.


  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.


  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.


  • Plans and organizes the daily logistics activities of the department, including the status and location of materials, in order to ensure that work is completed based on shipping needs and requirements.


  • Coordinates all SAP shipping drops and manages all outbound orders for inter-company, customer and non-customer shipments for the site.


  • Tracks all shipments and reports key predictive indicators on a regular basis.


  • Communicates with external warehouse and transportation vendors, providing direction and guidance relating to operational requirements and priorities.


  • Schedules and quotes transportation for shipments with transportation companies.


  • Manages the receiving and put-away function of all items received. This includes checking quantities against Purchase Orders and posting goods into the ERP system.
  • Operates yard trucks for internal trailer movements within the facility as needed.


  • Trains employees in company policies and procedures, safety guidelines, and general shipping operations using standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guidelines.


  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook, AWAIR and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.


  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS




  • 2-year business or technical degree required, BA/BS degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Word and Excel, familiarity with SAP preferred.


  • Working knowledge of cGMP and ISO guidelines.


  • Understanding and implement 6S and lean manufacturing techniques.


  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.


  • Ability to generate and adhere to a production, receiving and shipping schedules.


  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the time frame specified by the Manager.


  • Must be driven to maintain and improve upon quality and production standards.


  • Possess an awareness and understanding of performance against budget.


  • Customer focus and awareness of customer needs.


  • Must maintain a "Hands-on" style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem solving efforts.


  • Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.


  • Must have a high degree of accuracy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to executive non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).


  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.


  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
