The Audio Visual Technician I is responsible for operational support and maintenance of peripherals, AV control programs, and computers. Responsible for set-up, breakdown, and moderation of events.
Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs peripherals, AV control panels, and computers.
- Resolves internal user problems and ensures correct operation of audio visual equipment.
- Maintains parts inventory and logs all service/repair activity.
- Processes orders, logs, and controls loan equipment inventory.
- Tracks tickets in work order system.
Other Duties:
- Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- This position requires a high school diploma and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Experience in multimedia technical system support, helpdesk support, or other closely related experience.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an area of appropriate specialization.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with technical support of computer and multimedia systems; operating and troubleshooting classroom media presentation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to manage audio visual control equipment such as Crestron/AMX/Extron.
- Knowledge of desktop computers and basic networking concepts.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively within the community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.
- Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
- Ability to provide professional customer service.
- Ability to install and operate sound systems for events.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
