Role Snapshot

Our Vice President of Sales & Account Management is responsible for shaping the company's vision for Health Plan growth by building and mentoring high-performing sales and account management teams. Will align departmental strategies with broader organizational goals and objectives, and achieve sales and retention targets across a broad portfolio of commercial and government business lines. Our VP will also be responsible for setting growth targets, providing input into product/benefit designs, new market opportunities. This role will develop sales and account management strategies, provide pricing recommendations, oversee account implementations, develop customer engagement strategies, and ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Salary Range
200,000 ~ 250,000
The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Hybrid Work Location
This position will be hybrid, having the regional availability to come into our Office on a regular weekly cadence. Our office location: WPS Corporate Center Building - 1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI.

  • Would enjoy collaborating with the Health Plan's senior leadership team, develop and implement innovative sales and account management strategies that accelerate growth, increase customer satisfaction/retention, drive market share, and optimize financial performance.
  • Can define sales objectives, performance metrics, and growth targets across the Health Plan's product portfolio; track and measure progress against targets and adjust sales strategies/tactics as needed.
  • Would like to partner with key internal stakeholders (including Product, Marketing, Network, Actuarial, and Operations/Customer Experience) and external stakeholders (including TPA and PBM partners) to achieve the Health Plan's growth, retention and profitability goals.
  • Enjoy developing and growing strong relationships with key customers, including employers, agents, brokers and FMOs.
  • Like to establish and manage value-added partnerships that enhance our customer relationships (e.g., health clubs, on-site clinics, etc.).
  • Excel at providing strategic guidance on market expansion, product development, and competitive positioning.
  • Have been able to identify and leverage data and technology to achieve goals, improve performance, and minimize costs.
  • Assess business risks/opportunities and identify strategies to mitigate/capitalize as appropriate.
  • Thrive when coaching and mentoring Sales & Account Management teams with the goal of ensuring a culture of accountability and excellence, while implementing incentive plans and programs to drive employee engagement and satisfaction.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, business management or a relevant field, or 10 plus years of equivalent work/educational experience.
  • 10 or more years of Health Plan work experience.
  • 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience managing Health Plan sales and account management functions.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and government products/programs and their related customer segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously at a senior level - setting strategic direction, prioritizing initiatives, and driving them through to execution with measurable impact.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and drive work efforts with the highest returns on investment to achieve desired health plan goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on using data to drive sales and financial performance.
  • Ability to work in a complex, rapidly evolving environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • In depth understanding of relevant federal and state regulations and requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the challenges facing health plans and the broader healthcare industry.
  • Wisconsin Health and Life Insurance license or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience managing health plan Sales and Account Management.
  • In depth experience selling Medicare Supplement, ASO/self-funded, and level-funded products.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining agent/broker relationships specifically with agent/brokers in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Experience navigating Wisconsin health plan markets and products.
  • Masters degree in healthcare administration, business management or a relevant field.
