Position Overview:
This position supports Department Managers with operations in a manner consistent with established targets and parameters, ensuring performance is consistent with environmental, safety, and quality standards. This position's work schedule is Monday-Friday 2pm-10pm.

Critical Success Criteria:



  • Ensures employees follow safety and environmental health procedures to help protect people and the environment.
  • Drives efficiency and productivity within the department while ensuring employee safety, environmental health and quality.
  • Assist in the regular monitoring of all equipment and processes within the department to produce minimal downtime and quality output.


  • Lead incident investigations as assigned by the Department or Plant Manager developing all required reporting and analysis for presentation to management.


  • Assist with all major downtime events and be available for off-shifts.
  • Operating from a mindset of continual improvement of the overall process, coordinate all weekly/monthly plant inventories ensuring timely delivery of information to all business partners.
  • Possess the ability to use data to manage actions, as well as coach performance of teams



Responsibilities:



  • Filling in where needed across all plant operations departments. (RMPC, Furnace, Refinery)
  • Provide a regular and approachable presence on the factory floor
  • Covers for Department Manager absences as needed
  • Covers for extended gaps in Front Line Supervisor coverage as needed
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with maintenance, engineering, and Department Managers.
  • Work with supervisors to make critical, time-sensitive decisions, with minimal consultation, that are necessary to keep assigned departments running safely and efficiently, referring to the Department Manager when necessary.
  • Work with the Front-Line Supervisors to set achievable goals for a shift and follow-up providing support and resources when needed.
  • Participate in the selection of employees and work with supervisors to create strong relationships with employees; contribute to the development programs and assist in the delivery of production training programs
  • Participate in the evaluation and root cause investigation of operational issues and develop methods to prevent similar problems from recurring
  • Develop production staff to ensure proper training on operating procedures, operation of equipment, and safety guidelines; develop lead people and shift supervisors in supervisory skills
  • Lead employee engagement by following up on department requests, being an active listener, and driving continuous improvement
  • Respond to any health issues according to basic first aid guidelines and training
  • Take immediate action, as necessary, in production plant regarding safety violations, production standard deviations, and other operating problems that may arise during the course of production
  • Participate with others in management discussions related to the operation of the production plant
  • Ensures weekly progress reports of new hires are completed
  • Assist in reporting department statistics in the absence of a Department Manager on a weekly basis and assist the shift supervisor(s) with daily/weekly transitions to ensure continuous operation of the plant; review and comment on shift transition forms to help coordinate tasks needed for the department
  • Asist in supervisor employee reviews.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, process modifications, and product or service modifications
  • Uphold plant housekeeping standards according to the department's expectations.
  • Monitor environmental standards and ensure plant operations are within standards at all times
  • Review new or revised ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 documentation and other documentation; recommend and/or review safety, quality, and other checklists to assist production staff in meeting standards
  • Confer with Quality personnel to ensure new processes are accurately documented; when gaps are identified, coordinate with quality to get resolved
  • Develop SOPs (standard operating procedures)
  • Manage LOTO (lock out tag out) procedures
  • Communicate regularly and effectively utilizing Microsoft Office365 tools
  • Verify data collection and production rates
  • Sit in and participate in meetings and teams, including but not limited to, monthly safety meetings, lead person meetings, and daily production planning meetings
  • All other duties and projects as assigned by management



Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED minimally required
  • At least 1 year of previous production experience in a related industry
  • Proven leadership skills to champion change in a highly dynamic environment, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
  • Proficient PC skills to access and maintain information and communicate electronically
  • Excellent structured troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations and maintain focus on ultimate objectives
  • Ability to communicate information and work directives in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • First-rate interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, listening, coaching, delegation, and conflict management and resolution
  • Ability to communicate information and work directives in a clear, concise, and respectful manner
  • Ability to leverage continuous data stream/heavy data analysis to anticipate problems and minimize likelihood/impact of problems
  • Highly self-motivated and directed; ability to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple disciplines concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, and change priorities and direction with minimal notice
  • Capacity to work independently and within a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Aptitude to make sound, critical decisions with minimal consultation or input from others
  • Maintain required certifications (Basic First Aid, CPR, Haz Waste, 24 hours of OSHA training) and other training as required



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Science, or related degree from accredited College or University preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of previous management experience in an organized labor setting preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of lead and plastics recycling technology and production processes preferred, but not required
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical engineering and maintenance of machinery and equipment preferred, but not required
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply labor contract and work rules preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience using Wonderware preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience using OSIsoft PI preferred, but not required



Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin (e.g. clean shaven if applicable), work in a hot/high temperature production facility, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness and ability to comply with safety protocols and company-provided decontamination measures which include utilizing private shower facilities upon leaving the plant environment with or without reasonable accommodation




Compensation Information:
Salary Range: $110,000 to $135,898. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
