Position Summary
Position Summary: The University of New Mexico School of Law invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in its Clinical Law Program, starting in the Fall of 2026. The School of Law's Clinical Law Program is nationally recognized as a leader in clinical legal education. It is committed to serving low-income clients and increasing access to justice for historically underserved populations. The Clinical Law Program seeks an innovative and dynamic clinician to join our team. We are particularly interested in clinicians with experience and interest in the areas of family law, immigration, juvenile criminal law, or medical-legal partnerships, but we welcome applications from all clinicians interested in joining our program. The UNM School of Law has included clinical faculty in its unitary tenure for over 50 years, reflecting its enduring commitment to experiential learning and clinical legal education. To support the professional development and scholarship of clinical faculty, the School of Law provides generous professional development funds as well as course releases and summer funding to support scholarship. We value candidates who will contribute diverse backgrounds and perspectives that will enrich our students' learning and our faculty. Entry-level and experienced clinicians are encouraged to apply. Academic rank and salary will be based on experience and qualifications, but all are tenure or tenure-track positions. Clinic faculty positions involve teaching primarily in the clinical law program, with additional opportunities to teach elsewhere in the curriculum. Clinic faculty supervise students in all aspects of direct client representation, as well as community-based projects. They also teach clinical skills classes. The Clinical Law Program currently operates five clinical sections covering various legal areas. View descriptions of our clinics at http://lawschool.unm.edu/clinic/index.html.
