Position: Audit Officer | Division: Internal Audit| Work Days: Monday - Friday| Hours of Operation: 8:00am -5:00pm

Position Overview: The Audit Officer is responsible for assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of control systems within all activities of the bank holding company and its subsidiaries. This role ensures that bank assets are safeguarded, financial and operational information is accurate and timely, and that errors or irregularities are identified and corrected promptly. Additionally, the Audit Officer promotes operational efficiency and ensures adherence to policies, laws, regulations, and sound fiduciary principles. The Internal Audit Department operates under the oversight of the Broadway Bancshares Inc. (BBI) Audit & Compliance Review Committee, Board of Directors, and executive management. Essential Functions:
- Execute financial, operational, and regulatory compliance audits as directed by the supervisor, adhering to the BBI Internal Audit Policy and Internal Auditor Code of Ethics.
- Familiarize with audit programs, audit steps, and
control risks within the assigned audit areas. - Update and suggest improvements to internal control
documentation for assigned audits, including process narratives and risk/control registers. - Assist in defining audit scope, program revisions,
sample sizes, and appropriate audit procedures. - Obtain sufficient competent evidential matter through inspection, observation, inquiries, and confirmations to substantiate audit workpapers and provide a basis for audit conclusions.
- Conduct interviews and discussions with management and staff of the audited area to gather insights and clarify audit-related issues.
- Prepare and document audit workpapers following Internal Audit Department standards, noting sources, scope, analysis, and conclusions for each audit step.
- Develop written audit findings and recommendations to address conditions, improve operations, and reduce costs for presentation to management and the Board of Directors.
- Keep the supervisor informed on the progress of audit fieldwork, including significant findings and time management relative to budgeted hours.
- Communicate the status and findings of assigned audits to the relevant department or financial center manager during fieldwork and at the conclusion of the audit.
- Submit completed audit workpapers for supervisor review, resolve any review notes, and perform follow-up audit procedures as directed.
- Perform follow-up audits as directed to ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
- Conduct internal investigations as assigned, including collecting and organizing documentary evidence.
- Assist external auditors and regulators as required, including research, answering questions, and supplying evidence.
- Support other members of the Internal Audit Department in various tasks as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, accounting standards, audit principles, and industry developments affecting the bank.
- Pursue professional development through self-training, participation in professional groups, and recommended in-house or external courses.
- Take on additional duties or special projects as assigned by the supervisor, including research tasks or assisting other departments to enhance control processes or resolve specific issues.
- This position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.
Experience & Education:
- 1 year of relevant work experience or
equivalent college leadership experience. - 1 year of auditing experience (internal
or external) or examination experience with a bank regulatory agency preferred. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited
college with a minimum of 12 hours in accounting courses. - Bachelor's degree (or higher) with at
least 150 course hours, including 30 hours of accounting courses and 24 hours of other business courses, is preferred.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated capability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in preparing clear, well-documented audit workpapers and reports.
- Ability to conduct interviews and facilitate discussions with audited area management and staff.
- High-quality written and oral communication skills, with attention to content clarity and style.
- Analytical skills to evaluate evidence and make sound audit conclusions.
- Proficiency with internal control analysis and documentation, including process narratives and risk/control registers.
- Strong judgment and the ability to distinguish between critical and minor audit issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Other Requirements:
- Commitment to
continuing education and professional certification in relevant areas of auditing and compliance. - Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
