Below, you'll find other important information about this position. This position provides first-line field supervision to clinical field personnel. This role is responsible for assuring adequate resources; scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing, and planning the work of others. They maintain standards; coordinate activities; allocate personnel mitigate, and report personnel issues to the shift Captain. They review the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy, coach and mentor staff, ensure policy, procedure, and guidelines are followed, mitigate incidents at work, ensure employee health is maintained, and process employee paperwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Paramedic Certification through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, (NREMT).

2. Valid Driver's License.

3. Certified Paramedic through WV Office of Emergency Medical Service OR Obtain within three (3) months of hire.

4. Credentialed EMS Officer through National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA) OR Obtain within three (3) years of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years of experience as an EMS provider.

To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level)

1. Introduction to Rescue Awareness Course OR Obtain within six (6) months of hire.

2. NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800.

3. NIMS ICS 300 and ICS 400 (or ability to obtain in 12 months).

4. HAZMAT Awareness Certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Associates degree from an accredited institution 1. Critical Care Paramedic (WV CCP, FP-C, CCP-C, or CCEMTP).

2. Current or previous medical certification or license (Clinical Associate, Medical Assistant, RN, etc.).

3. Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) or higher.

4. NEMSMA Credentialed EMS Officer (SPO, MPO, FACPE).

5. Vehicle Extrication - Operations Certification.

6. Rope Operations Certification.

7. NEMSMA FTEP Certification.

8. HAZMAT Operations.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by persons assigned to this position. 1.Provides global front line field supervision and operational oversight to daily operations. Responds to incidents and functions as a Paramedic in accordance with WVOEMS protocols.

2. Ensures field operations have adequate resources by assessing, identifying, procuring, and allocating resources.

3. Assigns, reviews, directs, the work of others.

4. Completes scheduling and manages daily operational assignments.

5. Reports on employee problems and assistance with ensuring employee needs.

6. Coordinates and orchestrates efficient, effective, and compliant EMS operations.

7. Sets the example and maintains agency standards and expectations. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.

8.Monitors vehicle readiness, equipment inventory, and station maintenance.

9. Responds to and mitigates agency incidents, including employee injury and health concerns.

10.Coordinates and manages response to multi-unit, multi-agency, large-scale incidents.

11. Cooperates and interacts with external agencies and stakeholders.

12. Develops, organizes, and participates in continuing education, drills, and training programs.

13. Serves as Acting Captain during the Captain's absence, as assigned.

14. Addresses crew conflicts and operational issues and escalate to the Captain, as necessary.

15. Participates in community outreach and public education events.

16. Document personnel activity, shift reports, incident critiques, and other shift occurrences when required.

17. Conducts quality assurance and quality improvement in conjunction with the EMS Captain and Medical Review Committee.
