Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) Engineer for the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance (ASRR) system. The RMA Engineer will be responsible for analyzing subsystem RMA design factors, performing reliability analyses, and ensuring the ASRR system meets specified mission requirements for operational availability and performance. The ideal candidate will work closely with the U.S. Army, foreign military clients, ASRR partners, and internal engineering teams to ensure ISR systems achieve required reliability and maintainability standards in military operations.
Responsibilities
RMA Analysis and Design Evaluation:
Analyze subsystem RMA design factors to determine whether the overall ASRR system meets specified mission requirements for reliability, maintainability, and availability
- Perform failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA) to identify opportunities to improve ASRR performance and operational readiness
- Evaluate subsystem RMA designs to determine adequacy of ASRR partner sparing plans and logistics support strategies
- Assess system architecture and design decisions for their impact on long-term reliability and maintainability
Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation:
- Investigate and determine root cause of observed failures across all ASRR subsystems including aerostat, ISR sensors, ELINT systems, and ground control elements
- Recommend changes to improve system performance including preventive maintenance procedures, design modifications, and operational procedures
- Analyze failure patterns and trends to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with ASRR partners to investigate failures and implement corrective actions
Reliability Engineering and Performance Assessment:
- Develop and maintain reliability models for ASRR system components and overall system performance
- Conduct reliability predictions and assessments throughout system development and operational phases
- Determine impact of level of repair analyses and logistic delays on RMA requirements
- Analyze operational data to validate reliability predictions and refine models
Logistics and Maintenance Planning Support:
- Evaluate maintenance strategies and their impact on system availability and operational readiness
- Assess sparing strategies and inventory requirements to support operational availability targets
- Analyze maintenance data to identify optimization opportunities for maintenance procedures and schedules
- Support development of maintenance planning documents and logistics support analysis
Technical Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate results of reliability analyses to ASRR and Customer leadership through formal presentations and technical reports
- Develop and maintain RMA-related contract data requirements deliverables
- Generate regular reliability and availability reports including trend analysis and performance metrics
- Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams and program management
System Development Support:
- Contribute to creation of system specifications, architecture, and requirements documentation with focus on RMA requirements
- Support system-level testing and verification efforts with emphasis on reliability and maintainability validation
- Participate in design reviews to ensure RMA considerations are properly addressed
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate RMA requirements into system design
- Ensure RMA analyses comply with military standards (MIL-STD, MIL-PRF) and customer requirements
- Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs by ensuring international RMA requirements are met
- Maintain awareness of current RMA standards and best practices for complex military systems
- Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for RMA-related risks
Partner Coordination and Integration:
- Work with ASRR partners to ensure consistent RMA approaches across all subsystems
- Coordinate RMA analysis activities with subcontractors and ensure deliverable quality
- Support integration of partner RMA analyses into overall system assessments
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to system reliability and performance
