Job Summary

Oversees day-to-day operations of the Investigator Development Core within the FIU-RCMI Center, a federally funded research infrastructure program based at the Community-Based Research Institute (CBRI). The Program Manager plays a key leadership role in advancing the career development, research productivity, and mentorship activities of early-stage investigators (ESIs) affiliated with the FIU-RCMI. Coordinates the strategic planning, budgeting, communications, and evaluation functions to support faculty development initiatives and ensure alignment with NIH reporting and compliance standards.

  • Manages day-to-day operations of the FIU-RCMI Investigator Development Core to meet established program goals and grant objectives.
  • Coordinates all activities related to faculty research development, including mentor-mentee assignments, professional development events, pilot project support, and internal funding mechanisms.
  • Oversees logistics and planning for workshops, research symposia, proposal writing sessions, and evaluation meetings involving early-stage investigators.
  • Collaborates with CBRI program managers, core leads, and the Office of Research and Economic Development to ensure alignment of support services and adherence to NIH guidelines.
  • Works closely with the FIU-RCMI Administrative Core to track faculty engagement, maintain documentation of deliverables, and assist with preparation of annual reporting and progress submissions to NIH.
  • Prepares, edits, and coordinates presentations, data summaries, and written materials that highlight program achievements and promote institutional visibility.
  • Supervises or provides guidance to administrative support personnel or student assistants.
  • Monitors program budget allocations and expenditures in collaboration with administrative and finance staff.
  • Coordinates IDC core travel processes, including pre approval requests, travel authorizations, reimbursements, and reconciliation in accordance with university and sponsor guidelines.
  • Oversees purchasing and procurement functions for IDC core and Pilot projects as needed, including vendor registration, PantherSoft transactions, requisition submission, and tracking of purchase orders.
  • Initiates and tracks allowable purchases using the university-issued ProCard in compliance with FIU policies and sponsor requirements; reconciles transactions and maintains supporting documentation.
  • Develops procedures and operational improvements to enhance efficiency and transparency in program implementation.
  • Represents the FIU-RCMI and CBRI at university events and community forums as needed.
  • Supervise student assistants and temporary staff as needed for implementation of center activities. provide training on event procedures, customer service protocols, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Serves as the University's credit card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University's credit card policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing sponsored research programs in higher education, research development, or federally funded grants.
  • Familiarity with NIH funding mechanisms, reporting systems, and compliance expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage program operations, coordinate complex events, and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
