ELLWOOD City Forge Group is known worldwide as a leader in the open-die forging industry, and we are looking for a Machine Operator to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible to setup and operate a multi-head milling machine to rough tolerances, as well as provide general overall support to the shop as needed.

This position has a consistent second shift schedule beginning at 4 p.m.

What You'll Need:



  • A High School Diploma/GED.
  • The ability to manage a very physical job including heavy lifting and pulling.
  • A clean criminal background investigation.
  • A clean urine drug screening, performed upon offer of employment.
  • Strong work ethic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  1. Receive instructions and necessary information from Machine Shop Supervisor.
  2. Load and unload machine with the aid of an overhead crane, positioning material as required. Remove scale and chips from material and around mills manually when necessary.
  3. Set up and operate machine selecting proper feeds and speeds.
  4. Set up, select and change tooling and operate test equipment as necessary.
  5. Check identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers.
  6. Move material to next area of operation as required and attach proper color tag.
  7. Complete required production reports and use computer terminal.
  8. Put all tooling and blocking for operation of machine in proper location.
  9. Grind all sharp edges after milling with a hand grinder to ensure blocks are safe for future operations.
  10. Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
  11. Empty self-dumping chip hoppers into the roll offs.
  12. Hook up and operate overhead crane and forklift in moving empty and filled scrap boxes to areas as needed. Move production pieces as needed.
  13. Assist in maintenance or production work as required.
  14. Assist in environmental clean-up as required.
  15. Perform work in accordance with ECFG's AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  16. At times the employee may be required to perform testing in accordance with ISO 17025, NADCAP or other Standards. During testing the employee is considered to be a part of Quality and shall not be pressured by outside influences.


OTHER DUTIES



  • Report defective material and faulty equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  • Lubricate equipment and perform minor maintenance as necessary.
  • Advise supervisor of all tooling/heads needing repair or replacement.
  • Maintain working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Train new operators.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform monthly Behavior Based Safety Observations.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Be aware of and report all injuries, near misses and hazards to the supervisor/safety department.
  • Be mindful of safe working practices.
  • Comply with all safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Use stop work authority when an unsafe condition or act arises
  • Perform all other duties as required.
