Position Summary
We are accepting applications for this position regardless of work study award; however, students with a work study awarded will be given preference.
The Foundations program in the Department of Art is looking for a student employee to assist with the duties described below.
- Once per semester or as needed, to repair and paint critique walls, and worktables in Art Practices Studio located in the main art building (rm 252)
- Once at the beginning of the semester, assistant will help unload large Artisans supply order and stock in supply closets.
- Once per semester, take inventory of the following classroom equipment: worktables, stools, laptops, ipads, printers, speakers, and other equipment. Consult with Program Coordinator on what needs to be repaired and/or replaced. Work with Program Coordinator on ordering replacement supplies.
- Once per week or as needed, organize and clean the Art Practices Studio to maintain safety and usability organizing equipment, furniture, and contents of supply closets.
- Once per week or as needed, take inventory and organize supplies in Art Practices Studio supply closet. Provide list of supplies needed to Program Coordinator.
- Once every two weeks or as needed, check paper towel and soap dispensers in Art Practices Studio and refill, if needed.
- Once per week or as needed, stock and organize supplies in Art Practices Studio supply closet when orders come in.
At each semesters end, the work-study will assist with the collection and disposal of left over classroom materials and general cleanup of Art Practices Studio.
The ideal candidate will also have the following duties:
- Once a week, on Sundays from 12-4pm, the work -study will hold open studio hours in room 252 for AP students. The work study will be responsible for granting students access to tools and equipment and for monitoring their safe use. The work-study will also respond to student requests for technical assistance, and will store and lock all equipment, tool and supplies in their designated places at the end of the open hour's session. The tasks 1-9 listed above can be performed during these open hours whenever possible. Preference will be for a graduate student with work study.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Students with experience in Art Studio preferred Preference will be given to students who have been granted a work study award
