Be the welcoming face of The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, greeting every visitor, caller, and donor with warmth and a smile. This role supports daily operations through phone and in-person assistance, coordinates front office activities, and offers administrative support to all departments-helping connect people with resources, programs, and services that make a difference in the community.

This full time position works 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with a pay rate of at least $17.50/hour. The anticipated start date is 9/22/25. Job Objective:

Provide administrative assistance for Corps operations, serving as first point of contact by telephone and in person for individuals entering The Salvation Army Corps Community Center. Convey friendliness, helpfulness, and guidance to those seeking assistance, those making donations, or those needing pastoral care. Responsible for administrative support to all departments including but not limited to Development, Corps Ministry, and Social Services.

  • Provide consistent phone coverage while on duty during business hours, including maintaining an awareness of other staff schedules to be able to best respond to inquiries
  • Greet and direct clients and visitors. Provide referral information.
  • Schedule pantry appointments and maintain client records and files.
  • Maintain vehicle check-out records
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Maintain bulletin boards and literature racks
  • Support the needs of Officers and all Corps programs
  • Support registrations and other administrative functions for special projects
  • Attend to needs of persons coming in for showers by maintaining schedule, maintaining supplies, and being available during shower hours to make locker rooms available
  • Assist all staff with projects that can be done while at the desk (laminating, mailings, making hygiene kits, seasonal projects)
  • Assist in training volunteers to work in the front office according to established policies and procedures
  • Coordinate schedule with volunteers so that front office has coverage from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Receive front office or walk in donations (cash or in kind) and direct donations to proper department



Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: One year of administrative support or receptionist experience.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications: Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. CPR/AED/First Aid/Naloxone Administration certification to be obtained within first 60 days of employment.

Knowledge of:



  • Customer service skills
  • Public and private social services providers within the community and community resources and programs available to clients with identified needs
  • Computer applications related to the work including skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet, Teams, and email
  • Record keeping and organizational principles and practices
  • Techniques for supporting a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the phone
  • The Salvation Army's Safe from Harm program



Ability to:



  • Communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) in English. Spanish proficiency (written and verbal) is strongly preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; organize own work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Provide good teamwork skills to assist staff throughout the building
  • Communicate effectively orally, in writing and over the telephone

Much of this job is performed indoors in normal room temperature conditions. When the duties require being outdoors, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
