Applies various engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to analyze operational data/methods, identify performance improvement opportunities, and/or implement technology systems that meet business objectives.
Detailed summary in the areas of:
AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS: Designs and supports specific material handling sortation systems, design specifications, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system integration for less complex automated facilities and hubs. Analyzes vendor supplied equipment, supports project installation, and leads project testing on less complex automated facilities.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING ENGINEERING: Designs and supports the development of sites, buildings, offices, material handling systems, and sortation equipment for manuals and less complex automated sort facilities. Supports and collaborates with vendors and field maintenance departments on preventative maintenance efforts for material handling and automated sortation equipment.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Plans, directs, controls, and implements engineering, construction, and start-up of FedEx Ground sortation facilities and complex material handling systems.
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER & PROCESS: Provides analysis, reporting tools, and engineering support for FedEx field operations to effectively control and/or justify operational costs. Recommends and supports management on development of more effective metrics and tools. OPERATIONS RESEARCH, PLANNING & ANALYSIS: Applies optimization, simulation, mathematical, statistical and data analytic techniques to research and develop tactical and strategic decision support system simulation models and solutions to improve company performance, process, and network solutions.
OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY: Researches, designs, develops, deploys, and/or supports new and current technology solutions to improve performance and reduce operating costs with minimal management guidance and support. Leads and participates on cross-functional project teams responsible for implementing new technology.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROCUREMENT ENGINEERING: Plans and directs engineering procurement on key material handling system commodities that requires specific technical knowledge to procure for FedEx Ground sortation facilities and material handling systems. Acts as lead on procurement of new technology and works with other groups to implement in the field.
OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY SECURITY ENGINEER: Oversee security of all OT devices on the FedEx Ground Network. Interfaces with IT, InfoSec, and Network Services on all OT Security initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes performance data within engineering
  • Analyzes and documents existing processes. Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends solutions to management.
  • Researches and analyzes technical or engineering related information independently. Presents improvement recommendations to management.
  • Prepares accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis independently. Monitors expenditures to ensure spending is applied and within budget guidelines.
  • Formulates and presents document research, progress, and results to team members, internal customers, and senior management.
  • Applies project management fundamentals and concepts. Creates and publishes progress reports, meeting minutes, field communication memos, and presentations for management review.
  • Participates in Control Self Monitoring (CSM) and/or Business Control Self-Assessment (BCSA) process within area of responsibility.
  • Mentors and develops critical skill sets in lower level engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) required.

Preferred disciplines may be needed in the areas of:

AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field

FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING ENGINEERING: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related.

FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field .

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER & PROCESS: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field.

OPERATIONS RESEARCH, PLANNING & ANALYSIS:Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field

OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROCUREMENT ENGINEERING:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field

OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY SECURITY ENGINEERING: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or IT Security related field .

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years experience required in technical area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.

Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.

Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.

Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.

Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.

Ability to mentor, coach and act as a knowledge resource to other employees.

More specific skills may be needed in the areas of: AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS:

FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Knowledge of project management concepts and project lifecycle.

Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.

Knowledge of concepts related to construction and/or machine design.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER & PROCESS:

Working knowledge of statistical programming language (e.g., SAS).

Knowledge of project management concepts and project lifecycle.

OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY:

Knowledge of project management concepts and project lifecycle.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: $5,424.03/month - 11,309.65/month
