Job Summary
The Senior Finance Manager, IT Portfolio is responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, and performance reporting for the IT organization, supporting strategic decision-making and investment optimization.
Primary Objectives
- Lead financial planning and forecasting processes for the IT portfolio, aligning spend with strategic goals.
- Deliver actionable insights through financial analysis and performance reporting to support IT leadership.
- Support prioritization and optimization of IT investments across capital and operational initiatives.
- Partner with stakeholders to drive financial compliance, vendor value delivery, and resource alignment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage IT budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic financial and operational goals.
- Analyze and track IT spending, identifying cost-saving opportunities and performance trends.
- Provide variance analysis comparing actual IT spend to plan, forecast, and prior year.
- Perform project-based financial modeling to support capital and operational reporting.
- Assist with preparation and submission of business cases for financial investment.
- Review monthly financial results with IT senior leadership and coordinate forecast updates.
- Provide analysis and guidance to support annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes for the IT organization.
- Create insightful analyses to evaluate significant business initiatives and investment decisions.
- Develop recurring and ad-hoc reports and models to support data-driven decision-making.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting during monthly close, including accruals and adjusting entries.
- Track and report financial performance of the IT portfolio, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI).
- Prepare enterprise-level reporting on projected spend and expected benefits for capital allocation and cash forecasting.
- Collaborate with business units and leadership teams to prioritize IT projects based on strategic alignment, value, and risk.
- Monitor related activities and reporting for adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across IT initiatives.
- Partner with IT vendor relationship owners to evaluate cost-effectiveness, SLA compliance, and value delivery.
- Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and project teams.
- Support resource allocation across the IT portfolio to align with project needs and priorities.
- Identify and assess financial risks related to IT investments and propose mitigation strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in directly-related field required
Licenses and Certifications
- Project Management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) preferred
Work Experience
- 8+ year' progressive experience in financial planning and analysis including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling required
- 4+ years' experience supporting IT organizations or technology portfolios required
- Experience with IT project management preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with IT concepts, project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), and IT governance frameworks.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders.
- Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, manage relationships, and drive results.
- Ability to identify and resolve financial and operational issues related to the IT portfolio.
- Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
- Ability to align IT investments with overall business objectives.
- Proficiency with IT portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project, Clarity, or Planview.

The salary range listed is based on the geographic zone associated with this role: San Rafael, CA. Starting pay will be determined by job-related factors including experience, education, and business needs and may be modified at any time.
Zone 1: $160,000 - $185,000
This job is also eligible for participation in an Incentive Plan with a target payout based on eligible compensation and corporate/individual performance goal attainment. Annual Incentive Opportunity: 15% of eligible compensation
