Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a part time Copywriter/Editor (Unit Administrator/Specialist) for the Rutgers Camden Center for the Arts (
RCCA). The Copywriter/Editor (Unit Administrator/Specialist) works under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Rutgers Camden Center for the Arts (
RCCA) to produce, proofread and/or edit written copy for marketing, development, exhibitions, and other internal and external communications to advance RCCA's mission. The Copywriter/Editor will work in collaboration with the Assistant Director and two full-time program coordinators who will each serve as content experts, editors and art directors on projects related to their programming, a part-time graphic designer, the
FASC Web/Media staff, and other campus partners to write, proofread and/or edit copy for
RCCA fundraising, marketing, education and exhibition needs, to include such projects as: E-newsletters and Constant Contacts; Instagram and social media platforms; Flyers, posters, postcards; Exhibition catalogs, gallery guides, and wall text; Program brochures; Annual appeals and reports; Fundraising proposals and reports; Press releases; Web copy. The Copywriter/Editor will manage projects according to professional practice standards. The Copywriter/Editor will liaise with internal and external partners when needed. 10-15 hours per week; hours will vary depending on need.
Job Duties and Responsibilities to include the following:
- Collaborating with a designer to create marketing, fundraising and programmatic materials, in print and digital formats, that thoughtfully integrate visual design and written copy to include: posters, brochures, e-newsletter, catalogs, fundraising appeals and reports, social media content, etc.
- Writing, proofreading and/or editing written copy for the website, internal and external communications, and for a range of print and digital marketing, fundraising, and programmatic needs
- Contributing to the envisioning, creation and coordination of the RCCA communication calendar
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department programs

Salary Details |
This position is expected to pay a minimum hourly salary of $20 per hour. |

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
*Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
*Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
The incumbent must be an experienced marketing copywriter and editor, with experience in collaborating with a graphic designer. Must have extensive knowledge of social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and professional systems for storing and sharing documents / files. Must have strong verbal communication skills, excellent time management and organization. Must possess the abilities to work independently, take initiative, and self-start. Demonstrated investment in working with colleagues and audiences of diverse backgrounds and abilities is essential. .B.A. in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Art History, Education, or other writing-intensive field. Must have existing clips to share with application. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Knowledge of contemporary art and/or art education and involvement in the Philadelphia / South Jersey arts and music communities (as a participant is fine) is highly desired. |
