Established Nonprofit is hiring a Controller to join its Executive Leadership Team.
We’re seeking candidates with multiple location knowledge, 5+ years of diversified finance / accounting experience with progressive responsibility and a relevant degree to incorporate best practices in our organization, which has demonstrated continued growth. Reporting to the President, the Controller is responsible for leading a company's accounting functions and overseeing its financial health. This role is a process leader and sole contributor, currently with no direct reports.
Typical responsibilities will include:

Accounting Operations: Managing all accounting mechanics, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, tax filings, cashflow, and software systems associated therewith

Financial Reporting: Overseeing the production of periodic financial reports, ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards

Budgeting: Managing the budget process, drawing up a budget that allocates expenses in the most auspicious manner

Financial Decisions: Counseling the Executive Leadership Team on important financial decisions, guiding the organization's financial decisions, and reviewing the work of their employees to make final decisions on budgeting matters

Metric Management: Establishing, refining, and monitoring financial performance metrics

Compliance: Complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings in accordance with our 501(c)(3) status and state exemptions.

Internal Controls: Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Coordinating deliverables for annual audit and ensuring a separation of controls where appropriate and when able.

Records Administration: Maintains employee files, company contracts, invoices, receipts, transaction history, and alike.

Communication: Regularly attends company meetings and events as the organizational representative of the Finance function.

Business Savvy: Seeks to understand the nature of our business operations, vertical integration, varied product lines, and recommends revenue optimization strategies, long term investment opportunities (and their ROI), and costing / pricing models.

Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
This position is largely remote, but must be based in Wisconsin or Illinois. The candidate may be furnished with technological hardware in support of the role, but will be responsible for one’s own home office setting (including a reliable, high speed internet connection). We anticipate 1 day / week at a physical location (or more to meet business needs).
The expected hiring range for this role will be in the $80,000 - $120,000 range plus an annual bonus.
